  • That's not how cities work.

Home based businesses are normal in Canada where I live, people have hair, massage, other aesthetic studios, small scale businesses, professional services like counselling, etc. Heck, you can even rezone some corner properties to a neighbourhood commercial zone that only permits a handful of uses like corner stores or coffee shops.

The less homogenous a neighbourhood is the better it is for everyone. Unless you like being a slave to your car and driving 15 minutes to the store when you forgot milk.

  • Honestly, I hate watching comedies in theatres because of all the laughing which generally drowns out the second half, or subtleties of the joke which I don't like. I'd rather just wait until I can stream it at home.

That's not too say I wouldn't go see a movie if someone offered, but in not running to buy tickets to the next, I don't know, Apatow movie.

  • Similar experience to you, never read the books and watched it off the recommendation from some work people. I wasn't a big fan, the story and characters were alright but nothing really gripped me. I'll probably check out a few of the first episodes of the new season, but I don't expect myself to keep up with it.

  • I work as a city planner. I have an interest in tech and use some programs for work like Adobe suites, sketchup, minor GIS. Currently trying to motivate myself to learn GIS better but it's hard to sit down and start.

  • Yeah it's not great but it's not gross, I used to do this as a kid too. My brother and I learned about them from a restaurant that called them Jolly Rogers. Like op said it essentially tastes like a warm float.

  • I went to highschool in Canada from 04 to 09. Most people when I was on grade 8 dressed casual in t shirt, jeans, hoodie, etc. Aside from that we had a gangster crowd we called the g units, cowboy preppy kids (not Alberta but my town had a rodeo vibe to it) who wore polos blue jeans and cowboy boots and all played football, the skater/stoner crowd, and a tiny goth crowd. Then grade 9 hit and like 30 to 40% of my school went emo. By grade 11 half the kids reverted back to "normal" clothing while the other half went into the scene crowd and later became hipsters.

  • Converting offices to residential is expensive and can take longer than just building new residential. I'm not against converting offices to a better use, I saw an article yesterday about turning offices into vertical gardens for example, but office to housing isn't a financially viable option, especially if you're trying to make affordable housing.

  • Have you seen those Ben Garrison cartoons where Trump is drawn to have the physique of superman?

Only in the form of cum edits. But yeah it's amazing the mental hurdles people are throwing themselves through so "their guy" is the hero.

  • Mid density building is also dense enough to support frequent transit services. You're not going to get 20 minute buses in the suburbs forcing everyone to drive which means more spread out lots to accommodate 2+ cars, larger roads, etc.

Mid density doesn't work for everyone but it works for a lot of people, the issue is we have so little of it in most Canadian cities so people aren't exposed to it enough to think of it as a viable option.

  • Check out shoppers of its closer, the one near my house doesn't have it in stock ever but they do stock it.

Yeah I really only eat it like once a month when I feel like being lazy and I don't have to cook for anyone but myself. Lived off this stuff through uni though.
