  • I agree, which is why I always buy packs of 4 or 5 different tastes of cat foods. And give a different one everyday. The same dry kibble in the morning, but a different dinner every night. But we also buy different types of kibble every time.

  • I built the spectrum how I wanted to. I didn’t include China on the spectrum cause I feel that’s silly. The world is currently dominated by the US Empire. I don’t care about the anti-imperialist forces. I care about the Empire.

  • Yeah no, the spectrum of surveillance is “US private and government intelligence agencies <- the rest of the five eyes -> nothing”. It’s not a dichotomy, it’s a spectrum.

And that Wikipedia (🤮) article basically has way stronger arguments FOR Ahmed than against him lol not sure what you thought that did. Just because he has a “controversies” section? Did you even read it?

  • When capitalism. That’s when.

Edit: to clarify, it wasn’t much better before capitalism. But it was less all-encompassing. Feudalism was a shitty structure, worse even than capitalism tbh. But it was much easier to escape it. Not just in the “survivalist hippie camp” that still exists now. But even in everyday life. The system wasn’t shaping every facet of human existence. Only production relations (which is the big one yes). But capitalism has shaped everything around us. Our places of work, sure, but our personal lives. Our inner lives. Everything has been commodified. Mental health, religion, wellness, friendships, love and relationships, families, sickness, children etc. etc. etc… That is the main reason capitalism is worse than anything before it. No other system had the capacity to destroy the planet. None. To destroy all life in it. All in the name of profit. An immaterial, formless concept. Not even a real thing. And there’s not much we can do it seems. I mean there is, and I think it’s pretty clear. But I bet even that gets commodified soon. Bring on the politicians/capitalists death match reality game shows I guess…

  • I never said they worked for the CIA. But Larry Page and Sergey Brin do have lots of contacts inside of the government (and had them when they started Google out).

And this isn’t secret information at all… https://medium.com/insurge-intelligence/how-the-cia-made-google-e836451a959e

And I love how you try to imply that having massive government defense and intelligence contracts means absolutely nothing.

  • If you are trying to imply that Google of all companies is NOT an arm of the US government, I’m sorry to say but you are so wrong.

Google was founded by CIA venture capital money. They’ve had massive contracts with the US government since they began.

  • Omg a Wikipedia article shit talking the USSR? Communism is over, pack it up boys.

You can spew anti-communist Cold War era propaganda all you want.

I know the USSR wasn’t perfect. But it really serves only the interests of the US empire to focus on that without ever mentioning all the bullshit anti-science shit the US and Western powers engaged in for centuries.

Acting like only communist nations had issues is propaganda, plain and simple. Ignoring all the similar issues western capitalist nations had is propaganda, plain and simple.

  • Because it’s not right? The biggest competitor to the US technologically for decades was the USSR. They were the first into space, made the first computers etc. and they were much more centralised than China is.

  • What is your definition of working? I’d say communist revolutions have indeed worked. I base that on data, facts and the material conditions of places that had a revolution compared to countries in similar economic and geopolitical situations.

Cuba is doing much better than most Latin American countries. In most areas it’s doing MUCH better.

China is doing infinitely better than any other comparable country, like India. It’s not even a comparison.

The USSR was also doing much better than any country in a comparable situation when it did exist.

How did these revolutions “not work”?

  • Yeah sure… it worked great for Chile. Unless there is a wave of democratic socialism all over the western world, specially the US, all at the same time, it’ll just be squashed by fascism backed by the US and friends.

The only real solution that has worked before is a communist revolution. Like it or not.

  • So you and everyone else can have jobs that are actually productive for society (like producing, preparing and delivering food…), and then also work like 10-20 hours a week and have everything you described. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand.

Or do you mean you prefer to have a useless job that adds nothing to society but allows you treats while millions of people live in abject misery?

  • Nothing you said changes the fact that only a small portion of humans need to work for the rest of humanity to survive. Or everyone could just work 10 hours a week and everything would still be fine. Problem is most people spend 40 hours a week doing bullshit number shifting jobs that just serve speculators to get richer. Nothing being produced. If we actually focused our productive forces into use-value instead of trade-value and completely removed financialization, we could all live lives of abundance while barely working at all. We are at that point, technologically and in the total productive forces of our species. It’s simply a matter of political will. But the ruling classes would never accept that.

  • You are just describing all Liberal ideologies (which modern conservatism is - I don’t mean liberal in the USA sense)… it’s all vibes and identity, it’s pure ideology without any material analysis. Things happen because of “ideas”.

  • It depends… I wouldn’t say I cherry-pick, but if the art has a message that parallels the issues I have with the artist, it’s hard not to “separate” them. Like Kanye’s latest album… I can listen to College Dropout and Life of Pablo no problem, they don’t have any Nazi messaging. But his latest album is filled with very weird lyrics that just make me uncomfortable.

Another example would be someone like Dali, who was an avowed fascist. But his paintings don’t really have anything to do with that. And I quite enjoy them still.
