  • The truth of determinism is relevant to the most popular conception of free will. That's why this comes up repeatedly. People seem to want themselves to be free from causality itself, because being bound by it makes you not "free", and just going through the motions.

The problem here is the definition of free will itself . Rather than demanding from the universe that your mind be inexplicably free form causality, why not just accept a more useful definition of free will? Such as the ability to make decisions without undue coercion. Vague as that is, it's at least a workable definition.

  • You're not really disagreeing. AOC is perceived as the face of the democratic party and it's true. She's at least offering consistent resistance while the feckless leadership of the party does nothing but line their pockets and ensure 100 percent unconditional support of Israel to the determient of all else.

I don't even disagree with your conclusions necessary, if it's impossible to dislodge Pelosi and Schumer. But building a party from scratch is really fucking hard. Hijacking one might be easier.

  • The voters are the problem dude. Congress can take back this power any time they want. They won't because their constituents don't know how anything works, and they know that most of them won't even take an electoral hit for their inaction on this.

There is no rule you can put in place in a democracy that can protect voters from themselves.

  • Probably, and I'll denounce and blame them for this just the same. My moral compass is that copyright shouldn't exist to begin with.

Cool but that issue is not in play here. That is not even close to a mainstream position and none of the actual players in this are working towards that outcome. Taking one side of this on that basis is silly.
