  • Is there a way to make it pull some data on road closures from google maps? There's a lot of construction on my way to work right now so I rely on google maps to pick the fastest routes, which it does well. OSM just doesn't have the data to do that.

  • Powertoys makes using windows at work bearable for me. Having a search that doesn't just open edge if you press enter too fast and that lets me launch stuff as admin without a mouse is a godsent. So is the ability to paste as plain text.

  • None of them are like arch where you can read news about an update and find that you just have it installed already.

Given you're on ubuntu and therefore not at the bleeding edge anyways, it won't be a big difference. My personal choice for stuff that just needs to work is debian. I carry debian LTS with the full KDE pack on my ventoy and it's been great. I also heard very good things about testing and Sid, but I haven't tried them myself.

  • I run this setup right now and it works very well. The key is to disable fast boot in Windows (preferrably before even installing Linux), otherwise it won't shut down all the way and leave the drive in a dirty state. The ntfs-3g driver will still read and write to it, but games won't work.

  • Nvidia often ships drivers that crash, so using a different version is a good idea. I usually recommend downgrading to something from 3-6 months ago, but baldurs gate 3 is a new game and will probably work better with newer versions, so check for updates regularly.
