  • And then there's Zangendeutsch, where germans replace every single loanword with a calque. It doesn't matter how much sense it makes, all that matters is that it's technically correct.

  • If you live in a place where you can buy anonymous SIM cards and USB modems, that's a safe way to make sure no IP information can be traced back to you.

It's probably a bit overkill for this but if you're not Edward Snowden, you can use that setup for a long time and don't have to discard it.

  • Make absolutely sure that you're not touching the ubuntu partition while getting rid of windows.

A backup of at least your home directory is recommended.

Then just remove the windows partition from ubuntu and install garuda to it as usual. You'll probably need to use grub-mkconfig after installation to make sure grub shows both ubuntu and garuda. The arch wiki has a good guide on that.

  • That's correct. Iphones are especially vulnerable to that since they don't shut down all the way and always keep some radios enabled. Android devices will generally shut down properly.

But in any case, do you really need to worry about tracking by a carrier? Locating a phone is possible but not easy and usually only happens when it's specifically requested by the police.

If that's your threat level, you probably don't want to own a phone at all.

  • For headphones specifically, you need to keep an audio stream open at all times because apple does the same. As soon as there's just one stream, the headphones will switch to that.

Since you can't turn off apple's bullshit, you will need to connect them to your PC first and have a constant audio stream. As soon as it pauses, apple takes over.

Not sure what's the best way to do that, but having an audio file on loop with extremely low volume will do it.

  • Probably just wayland or some driver weirdness, but artifacts like this can happen if you have bad VRAM. Your IGP uses the main memory for that, so you can check it with memtest86. It's unlikely, but you can try it if all else fails.

  • My first PC in 2013 had 8GB, my current one from 2018 has 16GB and the next one will need 32GB.

Windows using shitloads of RAM forces people to upgrade and if they do, application developers stop caring about RAM and just waste it, so even non-windows devices need to be upgraded to do the same basic stuff they did before.

Netflix using react means it takes a solid 2 minutes to start on my android TV, so now I get to either accept that, stop using it or go through the hell of finding an android TV box that isn't just spyware in a box.
