  • I just picked up Red Rising based on a streamer's recommendation, I'm looking forward to it

  • For a shorter read I'd recommend Station Eleven. It's only 200 pages but is a really interesting story and makes me feel grateful for all that I have (including the ability to send this message)

Basic summary: Global pandemic but the mortality rate is 99% and you usually die within hours of showing symptoms. The plot grapples with the loss of modern life and what could remain once it all comes crumbling down.

  • They have been complaining for at least three weeks. When I saw this post I had a hunch that it was the same person and I was right. Just an apparently bitter person that doesn't comorehend that "meme" is not what they think it should be

  • Added new Roshan ability Roar of Retribution. If attacked by the team that last killed him, Roshan will release a roar that is heard globally, damages all units in 900 AoE and applies a debuff on them that increases incoming damage by 25%. Triggers when Roshan's health drops below 80%. Damage: 50. Damage Bonus per Minute: 10. Debuff Duration: 8s. Cooldown: 20s

This is the most interesting comeback mechanic I've seen. I'm not sure it will help much, but if someone is trying to sneak Roshan I can definitely see scenarios where it will come in big

  • Putting aside the content, this was a fantastically well written article. It was long but I kept reading because it told such a tale.

And, the inline sources were, generally, actual sources like statistics and research articles. I detest articles that just link to other news sources - I want the source of truth, not to play telephone. So good on the author for avoiding that trend!

  • I've actually gotten much better about hangovers, because I'm so conscious now about drinking water - I DOWN water while drinking more than one and it usually works out for me the next morning

  • Plus, I doubt two things:

    1. I don't think U.S. Justice system would prefer you to shoot people over a non-violent result
    2. I don't think the victim went through the mental process of "I'll get in more trouble if I don't shoot this guy, so I'd better just ice him"

Victim had a gun and so their first idea was to use the gun

  • I first heard this trial while I was still on reddit and I was sickened by the comments there. Most people seemed to feel that the shooting was fully justified and that they'd wish the shot had been fatal. A site that claimed to be progressive was openly arguing for escalation and killing. Just because the person is a shitty prankster.

Of course, I don't know the full details of the case, but I find it so difficult to sympathize with the shooter here. They had options, but instead chose to pick the deadly last resort. They could have run or even pulled out the gun as a deterrent if they were really desperate, but instead jumped to lethal measures.

  • It's a shame that the cutest thing my cats do is not very photogenic - they love for us to put our knees up and put a blanket on so they can sleep in the tent it creates. But it's too dark to take a picture of without seriously disturbing them

  • noooooo!

    Jump
  • No you're totally right, they don't have to be! I just saw an opportunity to spread some information and took the chance!

  • I have a friend who still brings up that all I fed him when he was at my house in high school was 12 cheese sticks. To me, that was a meal for royalty and I stand by it

  • There's a certain level of irony of a message like theirs in the comments of a meme post

  • Just downloaded Voyager to give it a try, and there's an "Androud UI" toggle in the settings

  • That's for the Hamburger Helper
