  • I don’t understand why people think that it’s acceptable.

As developers, we’ve had it drummed into us from day one that variable names are important and shouldn’t be one or two letters.

Yet developers deliberately alias an easy to read table name such as “customer” into “c” because that’s the first letter of the table. I’m sure that it’s more work to do that with auto completion meaning that you don’t even need to type out “customer”.

  • Yes, that's how it works. It's like how sometimes during road construction, the construction crew might route you into a different traffic lane. Doesn't mean that lane will remain safe to drive on forever.

That’s a bad analogy. The construction crew direct you to a safe place while they repair the rest of the road. There’s nothing being repaired in Gaza. It’s just being systematically destroyed.

  • Whether the thread is at the top of the community or not should be consensual. We have a mechanism for choosing which posts are most visible and they decided to override that, apparently against the wishes of the majority.

  • If you want to experience frustration try getting your business verified on Facebook if Facebook haven’t already decided that your business needs to be verified.

All we want is to integrate WhatsApp with our support desk software but you can’t do that without your business being verified. It’s a b2b company so we have no use for Facebook other than for this purpose which means that they won’t flag us as needing verification and there’s no way to contact them about it.

  • Generally, countries do initially investigate themselves because it’s actually one branch of management investigating someone who reports to them.

If this were the UK and there were allegations of war crimes against army personnel, I would expect the army to do that investigation. Then I would expect the government to investigate the army and if that is not satisfactory then you’d expect external bodies to investigate further.

The problem here is that the crimes have the backing of the higher ups so steps one and two aren’t about whether a crime had been committed but about how they deny the accusations?

  • The phones are mental too.

The Xperia range have a model number to denote the different models (similar to Samsung’s S and A) and a version number so if you say the phone’s full name it’s the Xperia 10 5 but the version number is in Roman numerals so it’s written Xperia 10 V, Xperia 5 IV, Xperia 1 V etc.

  • Yeah. You have unlimited data but they don’t want you to actually use that.

They take the risk that you’re not going to use more than they want you to from your phone but it is very likely that you’ll use it from your computer or if you connect multiple devices to your phone.

I find the idea to be reasonable because they can’t actually supply everyone with unlimited data but they really shouldn’t be calling it unlimited if there are any limits.

  • If the computer is owned by a company or institution they shouldn’t see this anyway. They should either be using Microsoft work or school accounts or they should be using local accounts and the admin should set the required registry settings for them.

I think that they could be using their own computer but they have to use Windows to be able to use whatever Respondus is.
