  • They aren’t a bank in the UK.

This article from about a week ago says that another guy was scammed and the scammers set up three new payees and made 137 payments totalling £165,000 within an hour to those payees. That definitely looks suspicious and should have been blocked.

Also, that victim tried to contact Revolut but they don’t have a fraud phone line and the only way to contact them is by sending messages from within the app and it took nearly 25 minutes for him to get the account frozen. That simply isn’t good enough.

Finally, that article says that Revolut has more reports of fraud against them than any other bank having 25% more than the next highest bank.

  • I think that from a legal point of view there is no difference between the two. If you do an Alford plea then you still can’t appeal because you pleaded guilty.

The harsh and mild sentence part is a negotiation. The prosecution is interested in getting a plea deal because it saves time and resources and the defendant is interested in getting a lighter sentence if they’re pretty confident that they’ll be convicted anyway.

  • I used to use a custom DNS solution using Amazon Route 53 (which I already used for my websites) and a Let’s Encrypt certificate. It worked ok but was pretty technical to set up.

Then I switched ISP and the new one doesn’t allow incoming connections by default so I use Nabu Casa. It was super simple to set up and works perfectly and, imo, well worth the cost.

  • It is stupid, yes, but they wouldn’t be able to do that anyway.

I’m fairly certain that the article is using the wrong term here and the problem is that the name Skywalker is trademarked.

You wouldn’t be able to trademark the name Jane Doe so you wouldn’t be able to prevent someone from using it.

  • You’re right about the glowy baseball bats but I think that Jedi combat is a tough one to pull off well. You can force pull any of the lower enemies into a one shot with the light sabre as it is and there’s no reason that you shouldn’t be able to do that with all human sized enemies that aren’t force users except that it would make for a dull game.

The loot is shit but I don’t know what more a Jedi needs other than armour or blasters but they don’t really use them. It is very weird that I had to find something in a box for me to get the idea to not shave my beard so close.

  • Gaza disarmed? I don't even know what that means, but whatever.

You can’t just “but whatever” that. How Israel defines that term is very important.

How is it to be verified that they are disarmed? How long do they need to remain disarmed for? Presumably, forever.

How do you verify that they stay disarmed?

It sounds like permanent occupation to me.

  • the people doing the detonating had visual confirmation of the targets not being in close proximity to civilians

Or even had the pager at all instead of leaving it at home where their kids could get hold of it or a fire could be started.

  • I guess that my message wasn’t clear but by “component” I meant a home automation component.

I have the following containers in my HA installation:

    • Home assistant
    • Node red
    • MQTT
    • Zigbee2mqtt
    • Esphome

And maybe others that I have forgotten.

Each had to be installed manually by adding it to my docker compose file, mapping drives, and editing config files.

Most, if not all, of them (except HA) can be installed from within HA if you’re using HAOS.
