  • They're loud as hell too. Makes me want to put a shishkabob skewer through either my eardrum or the speaker. That my be an exaggeration, but I'm not exaggerating when I say that I actively the avoid gas stations in my city that have this "feature".

  • Right. This shouldn't be about restricting children; but rather, this should be about restricting corporation's bad behaviors. It's also not just children that are impacted. Mining online dopamine-junkies for data by placing money extractors right on their weak spots is unethical, like selling someone crack, or phone scamming the elderly.

  • So there's a number of tools to do this on desktop, but how can I easily block these domains on Android across multiple browsers and reroute to a page reminding me why they're blocked?

Desired behavior: I type in a conde nast URL and it takes me to a page that says blocked, sketchy ownership with a link to the Wikipedia page or this thread.

  • I'm snobby about plastic. I think all water stored in plastic tastes like plastic and it's gross. Flavored with 100% real microplastics. Water tastes best out of glass, but it's expensive due to inadequate recycling infrastructure here, and it's heavy.

  • That was my first thought. How do you keep it cold enough to run in a place like Arizona, Spain, or Mexico? It also reminded me of my Windows Mobile days before I had a smartphone when someone on a Windows Mobile forum took a Dell Axim x51v and built a dock for it that exposed all the ports so he could use it with an external display as an infotainment/nav system. He called it the Aximizer. An old android phone with a micro-hdmi port might be the modern equivilant.

  • I hate how everyone follows the social marketing playbook now. There's so little community building and genuine connection with constituents. Everything is optimized by some social media marketing guru types with a masters degree in being an asshole.

  • That sounds very reasonable. I like to see monthly and weekly ticket options that even a visitor could sign up for. Every city could expand their transit reach by an extra few miles with a good bike share. That could translate to a huge area increase for transit coverage. I'd hate to see the option to bring your own bike be removed from busses and trains though. Bike share bikes can be like Russian Roulette.

  • In this case, I'd be visiting for a week or two a few times a year. But Craigslist/FB Marketplace/pawnshop bikes are looking like a good value. Definitely not opposed to big box bikes though as I have destroyed many over the years.

  • I'm not super familiar with the area, though I've been in Indy and the surrounding cities towns a handful of times always with very little time to actually explore by bike. I've also seen Carmel mentioned in regards to their roundabouts. I'm doing some research on how I can make that happen best without bringing a bike on a plane. I don't want to take Carmel bikes out of their area, so I may use them to explore the Monan further north and figure something else out for going towards Indy.

  • Regularly, sometimes in a teasing fun way, other times seriously and sincerely. I know she benefits from the positive reinforcement and I appreciate it when it's reversed and I'm being complimented as well. I agree with the other commenter who said they do this for everyone in their life. If you have something nice to say and sincerely mean it, why hold back?

  • Bike rides are the only thing that made cardio fun for me. The varied environments and the thrill of exploring massage my brain and I end up not noticing how much it sucks to bike straight up the side of a mountain. Also the alternating grind of ascending and thrilling adrenaline rush of descending keeps things fresh.
