  • I would not buy shares of this company if they were pennies. This company continued announcing new product before shipping the previous products and then had major issues with quality and many people reported refusal of refunds or fixes and a ton of shady behavior

  • But we’re constantly reading about Biden bypassing Congress to supply more weapons it Israel that are being used to kill children so maybe Biden could use these powers for something decent instead?

  • Thats how youtube is as well though? The default homepage for both is based on what you watch and like and comment on and some videos from accounts you follow. Or you can switch to the Followed/Subscriptions section for either app.

Its like that on every social media other than mastodon

  • “The United States occupies a total area of about 3.8 million square miles while China has an area of approximately 3.7million square miles. However, China has a bigger land area than the United States. The Chinese land area is about 2.2% bigger than the United States (3.5 million square miles).“

  • That’s a great idea but definitely keep it on Lemmy not matrix. That way it’s easy to come back to and for people to find when googling about the codebase. Also it’s way easier to keep track of questions etc that need answers instead of things getting lost in the chat format of matrix

  • Where do you see anything about arresting journalists or banning media coverage?

  • The g0v movement is an incredible open source movement making tools combating disinformation and improving democracy. We need the movement in more countries

  • Wait whatt? Can you share a screenshot?

  • Lemmy merch could be really cool especially if there was competitions/events for designing the merch

  • What’s the context of this comment?

  • It’s one of the few places to keep track of new developments of covid mitigations, studies on long covid simplified for laymen, new open source air purifiers, safe and affordable far uvc developments, people calling out the CDC’s constant terrible job at public health, the fact both political parties in the US are pretending millions aren’t going to continue to die and become disabled the more we ignore covid and long covid.

Twitter and yes, TikTok, are the only places theres active people talking about this especially in ways laymen can understand and take action on. Theres some subreddits (some ive made) but i hate visiting reddit now.

Mastodon has a few people but discovery on mastodon is terrible. No one uses hashtags cuz hashtags kinda suck and nothing is filtered or recommended based on who you follow and what they like or who they follow so you have to wade through too much irrelevant stuff.

Off topic: I prefer chronological feeds but they should have a user customizable option to have some recommended posts in between the chronological timeline for discovery. The Mammoth app is doing this but only for the For You feed which is not what I want because its 90% news articles from big publications. I want a chronological timeline with some recommended posts based on parameters i set like “x likes by friends of friends”, “user was recently followed by x amount of people I follow”, “x number of posts by this user were liked by y amount of people i follow”.

  • What do you mean by immutability?

  • This looks to good to be true and after some searching it seems they’re rebranded from linuxfx to windowsfx to wubuntu to hide previous security issues and shady stuff?

  • How many countries can the US bomb and still not “be at war”?

  • Is bluefin and bazzite based on universal blue?

  • I just wish threads using the same link and threads that are crossposted shared comments with a link on top of the comment that said the title of the original post.

It sucks when an article is posted to 5 communities and i have to go to each one to read all the comments. I want to read all the comments about the article in one place. If the thread is about something specific and uses the same link I would still understand the context because the comment would include the link/title of the original thread it was posted to.
