New as in not the ones from the 90s but the ones from 17-19 :)
It's excellent for making Thrawn come to life, it just conveys so much more than you could ever hope to achieve from dialogue or exposition. But I really do feel it's pointless and slightly annoying when he does the monologue thing for the other characters. Thrawn is alien in so many ways, but everyone else is just... Not. They're easy to understand motivational wise, they're not strange or different in how they think and operate and their motivations and drive is fairly plain to see. Thankfully I listened to them and Mark Thompson really makes the characters come to life and that makes it work. Still Thrawn as a character is just so well written. Truly fit to join the likes of Hari Seldon, C. Auguste Dupin, Sherlock Holmes and Ender Wiggin as a masterfully crafted fictional genius.
I found his characterization much better in the Thrawn series of books (the new ones, which are Canon, by Timothy Zahn). Well worth the read. Though the second book isn't as strong as the first and third. It's just too hard to write Vader from a first person perspective, he's always best when viewed through the eyes of other characters.
Not burnout in the adult, working sense no I don't think so. That would be quite worrying and likely not actually caused by school / college.
School tired, absolutely. Generally speaking, in the adult world motivation is a nice to have, the need to have is discipline. Discipline does not care in the slightest if you want to do something or if you're motivated to do it. Discipline is doing it no matter what because that is what you've decided that you will do.
The source of discipline is your parents, objectively they failed. Not out of malice mind you, just from not knowing that this was something they had to do. Since you did your schoolwork, a typical source of contention where a parent needs to instill discipline in their child, they didn't identify that they needed to find some other way to teach you. Be it housework, training/exercise or hell even taking care of one self if you're the "workaholic" type that needs to use discipline to force themselves to have fun and relax.
Now of course that train has sailed. So you need to teach yourself. Which is not easy but you'll succeed. I find it helpful to think of discipline as something you get more of the more you use it. So start small, decide on something small that you should/need to do but struggle with. Maybe it's brushing your teeth EVERY night or getting out of bed when the alarm rings or running laundry every weekend. Something, and then doing that until it's either completely automated or you've got enough control over it that you know you'll always be able to quickly force yourself to do it. Then move on to bigger fish. Perhaps it's spending one hour (a specific hour helps, like 6-7 pm) doing schoolwork. Doesn't even matter if you don't even have schoolwork to do, just read course material again or look into an upcoming course. It needs to be mandatory, something you don't allow yourself to ever cheat on.
Further never ever reward yourself with NOT doing a task like studying/training etc. Instead reward yourself with other things. A piece of candy at the most basic, an hour of watching TV/playing games or whatever other activities you want to do, that you don't need discipline to do.
I hope this is helpful. Take care of yourself, you got this!
I think this is the best take really. She obviously lacks the typical qualifications and it's no doubt that she got the job because of who she knows and not what she knows. But I really dislike when it's framed like working at hooters and bikini modelling is something bad, shameful or vapid. It's a job like any other and in this particular scenario it means she has hands on experience dealing with pervs, weirdos and people stuck in a time before women's suffrage. She might very well be a very effective leader of this bunch...
Ah, so he's not smart enough to understand how a progressive tax system works. At least he's in good company seeing as that's the norm if my lunch room discussions at work are any indication.
The only power consumers have is voting with your wallet. Which in this case if this is important for you you need to cancel else they'll let it be and then later down the road they'll push even further. Also this is what always happens when a company gets big and think/know they can get away with it.

Yes, which is exactly what I'm stating. Showing a forcibly non-upscaled video (or one where you've manually tweaked the upscaling for that matter) is likely not what you want because there are no circumstances where that is what you'd watch on that particular screen. It could perhaps work as an example of how that video would look if you had a 1080p monitor of the same size instead of the 4k one you have, since it scales in a linear fashion, a pixel of 1080p is 4 pixels in a square on a 4k screen. But that's likely not what you want to test. Instead the thing you do want to test is "does it matter if I download X content in 1080p or 4k? How big is the difference really?" And if that is the question you need to let it upscale.
And no helm(et) or lifejacket in sight... Looks like a spectacularly dumb way to die given all the jagged rocks.
Not really possible. A 1080p video smashed into a 4k container (so it can actually represent the 4k part) would look worse than a true 1080p video file since that would get up scaled by your TV or monitor in most situations.
Best comparison would be making a playlist of the same video first in 1080p and then 4k.
You're being downvoted here because you set the goalpost as "Biden shouldn't sign this pro-Israel, anti-palestine budget because he'll lose the election" when that is refuted you then move it to "Biden wants to sign this budget, you're dumb if you think he's reluctant". I don't think he's reluctant, but not because he today wants to block aid to UNRWA, because he as a life long career politician knows there's no such thing as a bill you support 100% if you reach 51% that's good enough.
All three, House, Senate and President, need to agree to the same budget. As Republicans control (on paper) everything but the presidency it's not like Biden has true agency. If he grandstands on the UNRWA funding here the shutdown that would follow would be squarely on Biden. Thousands of American government employees wouldn't be paid and people relying on the federal government for aid and support would be out in the cold.
The fact of the matter is that the average American voter care more about the US doing well and everything working than they do about Palestine in general and the UNRWA funding specifically.
Lol wut? Was this guy in a year long coma starting in December 2020? Cyberpunk had one of the top 10 most disastrous launches in gaming history. And in no small part due to botched expectations around quests, mainly because a lot of the pre-release footage was of "The Pickup" which really was the only quest to really deliver all they talked about in those early videos.
Now the game is still a good game. But it's a great "emergent gameplay" game, one where gameplay and level design work together to create something greater than the sum of the pieces. Quest, plot, story wise it's not at all anything special in my opinion. It has high production values sure, but the substance is rather meh, and there is little story agency, outside of "The Pickup", which I think is a large part of the reason they themselves, without announcement, stopped calling it a RPG about a year or so before release.
With escrow its completely pointless as you say to not pay it yourself. So I have to assume it's the terms for when it's not to be put in escrow.
It's more you need to prove you have $1 billion for us to put up this $500 million because we don't trust you to not spend a $500 million collateral on hamberders, hush money and legal fees.
Gotta love republicans "the spend and print regime" was bi-partisan and, importantly, initiated under Trump. Further they've continuously held control of the Senate while Biden has been in power and the house since 2022.
Finally the Affordable Care Act was a republican bill that Obama compromised on instead of the Democratic proposal, to get some improvements through. It's always amusing when Republicans now shit all over it...
Gotta love people with confidence: "by the end [of this video], there will be nothing left to discuss regarding Star Wars". That's one hell of a lofty goal! I'll need to watch it.
Windows can't be Christianity, it's not fragmented enough. It's either Scientology because it's tightly controlled and without meaningful denominations. Or Buddhism from a very western point of view (i.e. oblivious to the denominations and local variations).
I'd say the problem isn't so much optimization as it is scaling. The FPS delta between low and ultra is just stupid small in many games nowadays. Before dropping to low would make the game look like shit sure but it would also run on 5+ year old hardware. Now you get like 10 FPS+ and still slog around under 60 fps on 2-3 year old 6-series cards (X060/X600). Sure some games are CPU bound as well but that's less common.
Really what needs to happen is devs need to add a potato mode so we can at least play the game.
I'll however say that the source of the problem is of course consoles. On them settings are rather meaningless so it's only for the PC market you need them and given how many gaming PCs outperform consoles and PC gamers generally expect the PC version to look better it's no wonder that's where they put their focus and effort. But a proper low setting that actually scales shouldn't be too hard to achieve.
