  • It was definitely part racism.

The Three-fifths Compromise was an agreement reached during the 1787 United States Constitutional Convention over the inclusion of slavesin a state's total population. This count would determine: the number of seatsin the House of Representatives; the number of electoral votes each state would be allocated; and how much money the states would pay in taxes. Slave holding states wanted their entire population to be counted to determine the number of Representatives those states could elect and send to Congress. Free states wanted to exclude the counting of slave populations in slave states, since those slaves had no voting rights. A compromise was struck to resolve this impasse.

Emphasis mine, but the electoral college was originally disproportionate for more than one reason.

  • Yeah I thought it was corporate raiding and massive leverage that killed them. Like most success name brands that made it to the 80s.

Bain Capital was well known for that kind of bullshit.

  • It’s been really nice weather for a bike ride this fall where I live. Would be even better to get paid while doing it. Just stop for a few moments and cruise slowly by each house between neighborhood rides.

  • My ballot has one checkbox for Trump AND Vance. And another checkbox for Harris and Walz.

It would appear to be a vote for a joint ticket, and probably realistically mean a vote for Trump would elect him, then they would inaugurate the little shitstain VP as the president. Since votes would be for both candidates (P & VP).

I like the wishful thinking though.

  • Chives grow like weeds and whenever you need some just go out in the yard with scissors and give them a haircut. They grow back in a week or two, unless they’re under a foot or two of snow 6 months of the year. Which is where my farming desires end.
