As far as I can see there's only 2 strategically logical reasons to admit to something like this:
You know for a fact you can't pull it off anymore/the Russians know this happened so it's not new information and so spilling the beans is a means of humiliating Russia and winning some good PR.
It's not actually true and you're just fucking with Russia and making them second guess things (and also humiliating them if people believe it).
Beyond that it seems really careless to give away some juicy info like this. Just because they might not have a counter to it now does not mean they couldn't develop one now that they know it's a factor.
Yeah that's my hunch on it as well. There's been a number of articles in the last few months signaling closer ties with Russia and Maduro.
I'm of the opinion that the Gaza thing was spun up in part to create a distraction away from Ukraine and therefore divide available media attention and military resources. This looks a lot like an attempt to do that again.
Yeah the stream of stuff hitting my front page is a lot higher in quality and volume in the last few months. I don't post on reddit anymore but still visit for content and I am doing that less and less lately.
It’s not very good and I say that as someone who likes the original series a lot.
