Sweet post. To me this looks like the makings of a sustainable community and I remain pretty optimistic. Curious what the numbers for Kbin would look like.
Yeah I mean more of an attack on land actually in Yemen situation or even potentially boots on the ground and not just some sort of cruise missile or air strike.
Amsterdam is like that because they built it on a literal tidal floodplain reclaimed using dikes and when they put in a foundation under buildings they used wooden posts which eventually rotted away causing buildings to slump into the soft, wet earth underneath.
The problems and geology of the eastern US with respect to sinking land are much different.
Yeah where I was living in Seattle diet sodas were exempt from the tax. I do recall that Starbucks thing but that’s a whole other issue.
I live in an EU country now and apparently they’re gonna be rolling out sugary drink taxes soon and I’m not yet clear on whether diet sodas are included but I haven’t looked into it closely yet.
Yeah this isn't gonna go on much longer without a military response, which I am guessing is the plan. Keep spreading the US and allied countries' military attention thinner and thinner.
Yeah I've seen a lot of SNES still working today. I had one myself just a few years ago and sold it when I had a big move. So that's a lifespan of about 25-33 years depending on when the existing units were produced.
I think maybe they make an example of a few companies but that the fines are considerably less than the windfall of cash the price gouging got them and the rest of the offenders out there (many of which I bet are even worse) will get off scot-free
Yeah they jacked up prices and realized that while they may be losing customers, they're still making more money. They'd need to take a tangible financial hit to stop this shit.
This same basic math is going right now at every other company that decided to opportunistically price gouge us.
Fucking delusional on this writer’s part. It was far more than dozens and a lot of those people were power users with an outsized influence on the community.
I personally moderated two 150-250k user subs. Stepped down from both and wiped all my posts and comments and have not contributed a single thing since.
