Your comment prompted me to lookup when red 3 started to be used in food, but I couldn't find anything. Can't find who discovered it or when it was discovered either, weird. (There are claims but none with a credible source)
this is a direct consequence of the Supreme Court overturning the Chevron deference back in June. the appeals court has to apply the law. so you know who to blame.
sure, but that is because of rigorous government policies that came out of a herculean effort to eradicate poverty, not because of deflation like the comment i was replying to is trying to claim. if you look like China's inflation rate, it hovered ~2% for the past decade which is comparable to the US.
you should go to China and ask average Chinese people about how they feel about their "cheap groceries".
wealth inequality is a huge problem, and attribute it to inflation is naive. the rich has power in a capitalistic society, they will win no matter we are in an inflationary or deflationary economy. to think deflation will be good for the working people is very naive.
i agree with you, and i pretty much felt the same the first time i watched it. plus, Chihiro feels like a very reactive character, driven from one errand to the next, and nothing feels really earned.
however, my opinion changed a little bit, because i got to see its theatre adaptation on stage. this is more or less my first time seeing a stage play, so it was a very new, and different experience for me. basically it is a big make believe, because unlike film or animation, what you can do with props on stage is very limited. i had to try very hard to turn the analytical part of my brain off, otherwise the whole thing will just be ridiculous. and that somehow made it a lot more enjoyable.
so i guess what i am trying to say is, don't think too hard about it? 🤷
