Same thing happened to me. 7-day ban evasion suspension instantly into a perma on three accounts at once all because a single subreddit mod threw a fit when I accidentally posted there again off r/all on an alt.
They were all made with the same email address so I could have easily made another alt by now and kept posting but I've taken it as an opportunity to do a Reddit detox
I didn't care for the game much at launch and bounced off it, great idea but none of the systems were very developed. Combat specifically was very watered down.
Is it worth coming back now that it's had a bunch of updates?
Valve is probably perfectly happy with just making sure proton compatibility is good. They don't expect developers to change their whole workflow to cater to the Deck, that's why they've done so much work with proton.
Even if you turn it off the radio is still powered on and scanning in the background (wifi too), unless you specifically disable that as well. The battery drain is negligible
People grant kernel access all the time without thinking. Video game anti-cheat is a good example. It's a pretty potent vector of attack since you can never trust these companies to keep themselves secure.
I think the most realistic alternative is to just have an 'earliest end-of-life date' plainly visible at the time of purchase. Keeping these games online forever isn't feasible, but shutting down something people paid for with the expectation of continuous service isn't good either. Just make it clear how long the developers WILL support the game for, at the very minimum, and let people make their decision based on that. And mandate refunds for any live service game that doesn't last as long as promised.
