  • I guess I'm a bit of a basic bitch. I have MKBHD, Scotty Kilmer, DarkViperAU, Jordan Howlett, StevenHe, and Scott the Woz as the first few recommendations. Also I watch YouTube on the TV/desktop and shorts on my phone.

  • Your post is confusing friend. Also if you can figure out how to get heic image formats working on fedora I'd love to know. I fixed it by SSHDing into my mother's desktop and converting everything heic into jpeg from my arch instance.

    I wanted her to have a good experience with Linux so I avoided Ubuntu.

  • I'm sorry to hear that, dual graphics can be a pain. If you feel like trying it again I'd love to recommend pop os, it should handle dual graphics out of the box. It's just something that isn't well supported thanks to Nvidia's proprietary graphics.

  • What ever makes you feel like the bigger man. The most annoying thing I run into are distros not supporting proprietary codecs and formats out of the box.

    If that's where we're at right now I'm pretty happy with the state of Linux, especially since it's only a couple of distros that intentionally do that.

  • On kde there's a feature where you can pass all keys to x11 apps and on hyprland you can specify which keys get globally passed to which apps and maybe all keys.

    If all else fails you can create a script that uses obs sockets and runs as root to capture keys globally. They seem to be looking into a global keys portal though.

  • You could set certain ports to automatically mirror or set all other monitors to automatically mirror. The resolution will be the same as your primary though.

     monitor=DP-3,1920x1080@60,0x0,1,mirror,DP-2

    monitor=,preferred,auto,1,mirror,DP-1

  • In a sense I wouldn't berate coworkers and family for smoking and drinking stating facts about the detriment to their health every chance I get. I'd lend a hand when they need me the most, when they've looked in the mirror long enough, when they are looking for change.

    It's a fact I've come to realize some people don't want to change others have a limit they reach before they can change. If your always there to help when they need it, the outcome will almost always be better.

    I don't like being told what's best for me or what I should be doing as much as the next guy so I don't really bring it up unless they ask.

  • Using kde with Nvidia on Wayland. About the only thing I struggled with but it's an incredibly annoying bug kde hasn't fixed in a couple years now.

    The gnome team goes above and beyond when it comes to Nvidia support. They were the first to support Wayland on Nvidia and they're one of the first to support explicit sync.

    The interface is just annoying to use and work around. Using little hacks and extensions are annoying too, especially when they break.

  • Honestly still using the half finished hyprland build for games, studying, and work. If somethings missing then I fix it or simplify stuff I do all the time otherwise it's largely stock and janky. I'd say it's better than my taskbar freezing in kde or gnome. We don't have to talk about how annoying gnome is to use daily.
