  • You've never uploaded a video to YouTube have you? Their creator tools are actually incredible and their stats are a good way to tune their videos. Of course you shouldn't completely rely on them.

Also it isn't just the content. I rather use YouTube over Odysse, even if it's the same content. It's such a better experience, especially on mobile. Odysee is on the level YouTube was 10 years ago.

Also making a free video streaming site isn't really profitable. I don't know if YouTube still isn't profitable, but I've read reports from 2015 that it still wasn't profitable.

It makes sense that they now try to push things that make them money. They wouldn't push ads so hard if they weren't desperate.

  • In this case it's literally corruption. A few kilometers away, there is a coca cola bottling station which uses the area's ground water.

Coca cola also sells bottled water in the area so they don't lose anything even if they buy water.

  • Not necessarily true. They are mostly advertised as "music videos" or something like this. If YouTube would know it's porn or even CP, they wouldn't serve the ads and block the account.

There are other factors that also play a role like location or age.

  • Imagine if a newspaper could block you from reading an article because you didn't spend enough time looking at the ads.

They do that though. Most even require you to accept their cookies, pay or not be able to read the article at all.

  • That's not possible though. There simply is no content on other platforms and they generally aren't as good as YouTube and probably never will be.

The only platform I could see to rival YouTube in the future is Twitch

  • There is this popular misconception that real estate "is forever, like diamonds", that its value can only go up...

Diamonds aren't even that rare. The only reason they're that expensive is because of marketing and corruption.

  • I live in a village with about 1000 residents and I have to say that it's ok to get everywhere. It just becomes a problem if you want to drive back late or on Sundays because the bus doesn't come at that time

To the nearest train station I need around an hour when I walk. Usually that's not needed though. After that it's another hour to the nearest large city
