  • I haven't logged into my Reddit account since June.

I never used Twitter, so that wasn't an issue for me.

I just stopped using Discord, if I need to message someone on the internet I suggest Matrix but I almost never use it.

I mostly use Odysee and Nebula to watch videos, if I need to use YouTube I use alternative front-ends like Piped or LibreTube. I tried PeerTube, but there's just not enough content that I would want to watch.

  • uBlock Origin has built-in bypass mechanisms. No extra userscripts required. Other extensions or scripts might interfere with uBO though. You also need to use Firefox or a Firefox fork like LibreWolf because Chrome soon won't support MV2 anymore which is required for proper ad-blocking.

  • Installing from a stage 1 tarball back in 2002

  • The guy who wants his employees to work 100h/week and sleep on the floor in the factory calls others insane. Yeah. I have nothing to add to that.

  • You can exclude https://youtube.com/ from redirection, that way, the YouTube homepage won't be redirected, but all videos will be.

  • On Android, I recommend the UntrackMe app. It basically does the same as LibRedirect. You can also use this hack to install desktop extensions like LibRedirect in Firefox Mobile, it requires Fennec Nightly (essentially the Firefox beta version) or Mull (hardened Firefox which is built from Fennec Nightly) though.

  • I use both, LibRedirect and Redirector for things that are not supported in LibRedirect.

  • Gentoo users don't use systemd.

  • If you do neofetch > .bashrc you will simply have a broken shell config. To add neofetch to the bashrc you need to use echo.

  • It just goes down to personnal preference and some feautures.

    Absolutely true

  • I have Android 13 and when I tap on a link it asks me what app to open, also you can set this within the settings app per app basis.

On many occasions, Android nowadays uses "Verified links" to figure out what app to open instead of prompting the user LinkSheet also provides other cool features that I already described in my previous comment:

It has many great features like the ability to remove tracking parameters from URLs or using FastForward to annoying bypass URL shorteners

Is this like Better Open With?

    Yes

  • I second this. Navidrome is great and it can be used with any Subsonic-compatible client which makes it even more awesome.

  • I believe the limitation is introduced on the server side to prevent exactly this. You can use this guide to download or stream 320kbps MP3s and even FLACs from Deezer though. It's genuine 320kbps, you can check it using a spectrum analyzer like spek. I used this to build up my collection of high quality music.
