I love to see it.

Each time I see posts like this, I hope to see adobe announce they are making linux versions of their software. Whether you like it or not, a lot of people do not switch because of adobe.

I wish I could pay those prices for a co-working space! Wow, it is so cheap.

That is such a crazy amount of money on license fees, especially when you consider that there are mostly free alternatives. I am always choosing foss options as I build my small business.

Right now, I am using onedrive, and Microsoft for my business email. Which I think comes out to like $5 a month.

My understanding is that for reliable email, you need to host with microsoft or google otherwise you are more likely to get sorted into junk mail. If that is incorrect, please let me know.

I don’t really think so, the person buying it would need to use laundered money to buy it otherwise it could draw suspicion.

Yeah, sadly it does not work. Even their support team suggested I try to use the Android version of it in Linux though an emulator, but that also did not work.

Sadly it’s video conferencing that is preventing me from doing that. The video conferencing app is the one that only works on windows and mac.

Mint is pretty much the best distro. It’s what I recommend to everyone.

I could run it in a windows virtual machine, but I literally use that app 40+ hours a week.

I’d basically turn on the computer to launch a virtual machine. I’d be better off just keeping my Linux laptop for personal use and Mac for work.

I’m freelance, so technically my company will pay for it 😅

I think we might not be seeing all the advancements as they are made.

Google just showed off AI video with sound. You can use it if you subscribe to thier $250/month plan. That is quite expensive.

But if you have strong enough hardware, you can generate your own without sound.

I think that is a pretty huge advancement in the past year or so.

I think that focus is being put on optimizing these current things and making small improvements to quality.

Just give it a few years and you will not even need your webcam to be on. You could just use an AI avatar that look and sounds just like you running locally on your own computer. You could just type what you want to say or pass through audio. I think the tech to do this kind of stuff is basically there, it just needs to be refined and optimized. Computers in the coming years will offer more and more power to let you run this stuff.

Same, a large breakfast makes me feel queasy too. I never met another person like this. I usually don't eat until noon.

But, 10AM and later, I'm not queasy.

I live in a country with a strict outdoor smoking ban and I love it.

There are dedicated smoking areas for people to smoke outdoors, but they are really small and cramped with smokers.

It’s actually really nice, you never see or smell people smoking unless you wonder too close to the designated smoking areas which are often really out of the way.

The streets are not really clean here, but at least it’s not cigarette butts. Even things like vapes need to be smoked in a designated area, but sometimes people do it on the street anyway.

My point is that a tax expert will need to actually do it.

As you may know, due to lobbying from tax preparation companies, filing US taxes is extremely over complication and typically requires you to pay someone to do it.

Even though I’ve done my own taxes in the past, I just paid someone else $300 to do it as it’s such a confusing nightmare of paperwork.

Well, the IRS had a program that let you file for free if you met certain conditions. Basically, the average American that is low income could just go through the IRS website to very easily file their taxes.

The current administration got rid of that program. It looks like someone posted the source code that was used to file your taxes.

I guess someone could modify this code so it could be used in a limited way in the future, but it would require constant updates as the tax code changes.

My entire working life always felt like there was an oversupply of workers. I’ve never been in a position where there was readily room for advancement. I’m not even talking about me, but my peers too.

It was always like, “Work this job for a few years and maybe a position will open.”

The first “real” job I had was at a bank and the executive of sales was like late-30s or early-40s. If I did the apply for a promotion every few years thing, I’d be significantly older than him before I was at that point.

How can they say you need all these years experience if the exec is so young. It didn’t make any sense.

My first car crash was someone slamming into the back of my car on the highway when traffic came to a sudden stop.

I was not injured at all, but 20 years later, I still sometimes check my rear mirror when it happens. For years it was a constant thing, but lately, its just in really abrupt stops.

I'd be interested to understand this better.
