  • And yet these types of predatory fees are a very American thing (and of course probably many parts of the world I have no experience with) for the comparison below I will focus on US vs Europe.

Most European credit cards debit the full amount at the end of the month. If you don’t have enough money in your bank account, there is no overdraft fee. The overdraft becomes a loan which you pay a couple percent interest. Then eventually if you don’t pay that for long enough and the interest rising a bit more, the bank reaches out to you, and offer to close your count and make a payment plan for you. Otherwise it goes to collections.

The above happened to me when I was a student. I was able to quickly open another bank account for like 2 euros with another bank as well, and eventually paid off my debt.

  • It’s all in context. If there are only 1-2 posts per day then yes. There are more of course, but it does feel like a lot.

For me it was too much of it, and do not find it funny, so I blocked the user. But I like that people that enjoy it, still get to see it.

  • This is some late stage capitalism shit. Oh how generous we are, we allow you to be sick up to 5 days a year.

In my job in Europe, I get unlimited sick days as anyone should. If it’s long term, after the first year out, my salary drops from 100% to 70% for another year. Then the government takes over. And no, people do not abuse this system.

Also, obviously this is separate from my 30 days PTO.

The US needs to wake up!

  • Until reading this question, I completely forgot head phone jacks used to be a thing in phones. In love my first gen AirPods and JBL over the ear wireless headphones. The battery lasts forever, and they easily switch between my devices.

    I love not having cords!

In my car I just connect with wireless CarPlay and charge wirelessly as well.

  • My dude(ette) they are saying for you to pick any smaller instance with good uptime and recent updates. Not the Australian one specifically.

Any of those smaller instances are likely to be faster than the much bigger ones.

  • Probably not a lot of Europeans in the line you were in. This is my home airport and everyone always uses it.

Alternatively, you might have seen the iria scan line, which is part of a service the airport offers, which you have to pay for.
