  • I did it mainly for looks. It's a vanity tint more than anything. The white/blue LED lights are a tinge more yellow and seem less painful, but it's still ridiculous that it's even a consideration

  • Light trucks exist in kind of a legal loophole in the US

These vehicles have been pushed hard because they're not held to the same standard as cars and are more profitable as a result

I'm pretty sure that even tho cars have gotten more efficient that average fuel economy has gone down because of the proliferation of these massive vehicles sold to Americans a daily drivers

  • These were some of my favorite books at one time, but Simmons is a right wing chud these days. When you read his books with that awareness it's actually kind of jarring how questionable some of the elements and characterizations he uses are.

I was really excited after finishing Hyperion and Endymion to read his other works, but Illium and Olympos made him out to be a one trick pony... plus those books just sucked

  • Endymion and Rise is Endymion were both great in my opinion.

Simmons is kind of a one trick pony tho, so it's more of the same shit: things are happening and there's this precocious character who has to explain everything explicitly to the reader, etc. I still think they're worth reading. Illium and Olympos sucked and were essentially the same jarring non narrative that's supposed to come together with the same sorts of characters and literary riffing (ie, elements from other genres and styles as well as Shakespeare, Greek mythology, etc.)

Unfortunately Simmons revealed himself to be outspoken with his regressive politics, so it's kind of a bumout that Hyperion was a book that I enjoyed so much.

  • If you're being pinballed down a mountain, I think a cracked screen is the least of your worries at that point.

Also, phone issuance exists for like $15 a month. Call me weird but I'll live "dangerously" with my phone for the reason that getting stranded like this would be awful

  • An article I read right after this happened (which very well could have been a hit piece) said she (the armorer) was in her early 20s and would fuck around and go shooting with the prop guns when filming wasn't happening. So... kind of. Yes

Sounds like there's lots of blame to go around
