Ah yeah, i know what you mean. That can be overwhelming. There are a loooooot of choices, and the differences might be things I've never even heard of before.

I think a lot of these articles are written with the expectation that you will try several different versions after you learn to flash/boot. I think i ended up with 4 different forks i could boot from.

When I started, i went with Ubuntu first just because it seemed pretty stable and had support from a large company, but once I leanred how to boot Ubuntu it was easy to do the same steps for the other versions to try them out.

To answer your question. As you make more, each addition amount is taxed a little more. So rich people and poor people pay the same rate on their first $50k, but rich people will pay higher rates on each check after 50k . There are several of these brackets and the. They kinda work like a step function.

It's crazy how fast the California tax rate scales as you make more. The difference between like 50k, 100k, 150k and 200k alone is wild. Each step the rate scales so fast

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. The most possible democracy would require every single government decision requiring a vote by its citizens.

The United States system has financial incentives for low police/prevention and long harsh prison sentences, due to cities paying for police but counties/state paying for prisons. Cities can cut taxes and police and pass the cost onto the county or state.

Ideally you'd want quick guaranteed consequences for breaking the law. We have the complete opposite, and when we do catch you, we impose a huge penalty to make up for all times we probably didnt catch you before.

The aid is being withheld so that Biden starts treating asylum seekers horrendously. You talking about something unrelated as cover for this desired horrific republican policy is not great to see on this website.

This comment a good example of why its important to learn and understand how our government functions.

The President is not a dictator and our government has separation of powers specifically to prevent abuses by one person.

Your understanding of government would also allow Donald Trump to do anything he wanted as well, which would clearly be a terrible outcome.
