  • I’m not sure how you messed up, because I was able to not blame the user for decisions made on their behalf without their consent, and I too saw this post.

  • Damn fine callout here, it definitely looks like the AMS there is loaded up with the green, orange, and pla support

  • A device that can do all of the things a phone can do without needing to find and install apps, that can learn from your usage patterns in effective and practical ways, and is unobtrusive to wear all the time sounds pretty fucking cool to me.

That is the promised future that AI devices are selling; I thought I was pretty clear that this device was never going to deliver on it.

  • Tribespeople became so addicted that Marubo leaders, fearing that history and culture — which is passed down orally — could be lost forever, they have now limited access to the internet for two hours each morning, five hours each evening, and all day Sunday.

That is still so much internet, we would probably all be healthier following that guideline.

  • I’m sure this will pass, I just do not understand why people vote against their own best interest so damn often.

  • I think it would be really cool if it worked like they wanted us to believe it would. Like, it could be one of those “change the way we live our day to day lives” events to the like of of smartphones becoming mainstream.

This device was never going to live up to that or get anywhere close to it, but I can’t blame people for really wanting to believe.

  • This just in: intentionally misrepresenting something has a 100% chance of it being misrepresented.

    Let’s try again:

    • proper tools are important, but not as important as the people using them
    • documentation is important, but not as important as the software functioning correctly
    • working with the customer to accomplish their needs is more important than adhering to the letter of a contract
    • plans are important, but dogmatically applying them above the spirit of their intent is harmful
  • I had a setup that turned on the action camera when I put my thumb on the steam decks left stick, so I was always in normal mode unless I was actively looking around or moving.

It was pretty natural and the best experience I came up with, but I still felt like it was a compromise I was frustrated to have to make.

  • I set up a pretty workable controller config that I played with for like two months, but even with many hours invested in fine tuning it I just felt like I was fighting the game’s UI and I gave up.

What’s really frustrating is that the game is totally playable with a controller. ANet just needs to update the menus and it would be a fantastic experience.

  • If we’ve just met, not at all.

If we’ve been best friends for 10 years, that would sting a little.

  • I think getting the moderator mails was just too much. Like it’s a platform filled with people racing to the bottom and you get to see all the worst as a direct feed.

I don’t know how Reddit mods do it.

  • It’s a sad time to be alive when people genuinely believe that being openly hostile and combative is the same thing as constructive criticism.

Banning seems totally reasonable to me. Nobody is obligated to put up with that shit.

  • I had to stop using Next Door entirely.

I set my neighborhood up years ago because I thought it was just a fantastic idea for a place to reach out to people who actually live near you. Reality has not borne that out.

ND seems like the place to go if you hate yourself and your neighbors and you really want everyone to know about it. It was like 70% busybodies and paranoid old people, 20% lost pet reminders, and 10% people being horrible to each other via the comments on the other 90%.

Also, I am now painfully aware of how much people hate the homeless. Just loathe and despise them for the crime of existing; while blissfully unaware that it’s just because they’re scared of how close they are to being homeless themselves.

  • I… I have no idea if this is satire or a legitimate quote and that is so depressing.

  • Physical media today isn’t really much better though, increasingly frequently all a disk gets you is a license to activate a digital copy anyways, with a “must be online for first play” requirement.

  • I’m not blaming you for the state of the world, I’m blaming you for taking your fatalist nonsense and using it to try to bring down others with you.

  • This attitude is what lets the government and big tech get away with so much bullshit.

“Well it’s happening already so crying about it isn’t going to change anything because you know that protest has never ever been effective even once ever and I kinda like the taste of boot anyways so what’s the big deal?”

  • AA is my airline of choice, so I guess it’s time to find a new one.
