  • I mean that's fair, but for the average users what exactly are they going to need to be touching system wise? All your flatpak stuff is going to be safe.

  • It's always weird to me to see steam deck support listed first instead of linux. But I guess they really want to make sure Steam deck users know that the game and controls work.

  • You are wrong because you can install anything using flathub and that has almost everything anyone would ever need, https://flathub.org/apps/search. I don't own the device myself but it's Arch based so everything should just work?

From Valve themselves: "Currently, this is a stock KDE Plasma experience in terms of installing software. You can use the Discover Software Center (on the taskbar) to install apps. The Discover Software Center installs applications using flatpak technology (more on this below) onto the writeable portion of your drive. If you know your way around a Linux command line you can directly use flatpak commands to install applications. Common browsers, music players, and other kinds of applications are already available via these methods, and we expect that many more will be updated, fixed, and available after launch."

  • Pretty mid year for egs, more games given away less money spent by users.

  • One of the few times being an extremely greedy company actually benefits the consumers.

  • There is artificial grind that you can pay past, it also has drm to protect the sanctity of the pve multiplayer according to the devs. Most people think it's to protect the $$ from the microtransactions.

  • Huh it was borked when I last looked and doesn't nguard not work on linux? I couldn't find any statements by the devs. I have a feeling this is more of an oversight then them caring about linux players.

  • I don't want to really give recc's to games I haven't played and I don't have that much time to play that many of them anyway. Well if you see me post it, know that it's not a bot and just a harmless "this looks interesting". I might make a video one day on indie games but I probably won't post it here since it would to me be a conflict of interest.

  • I like posting indie games that look half decent here sometimes. I don't really know what context I'm supposed to give. I can't really do an indie sunday since so little people are on lemmy and post.

  • That drm prevents linux support so I guess it's a non issue to me either way.

  • and yet it has DRM to prevent people from skipping past the grind in a pve game.

  • I remember when it wasn't full of cheaters, didn't require an epic account and only sold items for wins.

  • Nope nothing I post has anything to do with me or made by me, but sometimes I do let garbage slip through :(

  • Microsoft could just continue working on their steamOS copycat and then just let other manufacturers make Microsoft boxes. I think the future is heading more towards that then locked down consoles. Also Microsoft could make an xbox app that basically has all that old data.

  • I hope they somehow got rid of the worst dregs of IGN before they made this union otherwise getting rid of them in the future is going to be tuff likely.

  • I don't get it either, consoles now are just cheap locked down PC's. I don't even mind if steam games come out on epic and I really really do not like epic, but it's like a non issue for me. I don't see how this is much different except people are worried sony is going to get a monopoly if xbox exits the space?

  • NOOOO my games are coming to other devices, the horror.
