  • 93000 mails since 2008 are just 2,1 GB. I have an archive on my home server where I also host my main IMAP server. I just move them from the inbox to Archives.YEAR.

  • So what is meant by the republican "post-birth abortion"?

  • It's a combination of failed education and the social network hype. People here don't recognize manipulative writings from independent news anymore. The social networks additionally stir people up with their dumbed down political shows, populism and lies.

  • What do you mean? Thunderbird is the default mail application on Windows for me. I didn't even know there is something else.

  • I'm pretty sure that would be against EU laws to revoke a valid purchase. Let's see how this turns out.

  • I used plain Kerberos. I stopped, because sometimes I don't want to be logged in automatically. Privacy and multi-account systems get more difficult.

  • You can install Steam on Linux. In fact I have 2 PCs in my house for my sons. They run Windows games flawlessly. See for compatibility in the ProtonDB.

  • Would a simple blur filter be enough to emulate this?

  • SimpleX Chat has got many features that these kinds of tools need. It's also open and focused on security. You'll need it eventually, if you're in a hostile environment.

  • You can also browse web in emacs.

    emacs chrome
    emacs firefox

  • Yeah, but you have to admit that children wouldn't ask you what a reverse proxy is. I tried my best to write short, omitting details and in a simple language.

  • A reverse proxy delegates HTTP requests to the web servers that should respond. It may also decrypt from HTTPS and/or cache them, it static content is served.

If you are using containers, the web servers running inside the containers are proxied. That means the delegation forwards the requests to the container which web server has to respond to.

  • I just bought it for my son. I'm writing this to let you know that you're responsible for this. 😜

  • If you like exa and fzf, you'll also like fd (or sometimes fd-find).

  • Isn't it Christian tradition to get expelled from cozy and nice places?

  • And, whatever system you use, the installers need to have admin rights to operate. I rather give admin rights to people I trust on my servers and clients. I don't trust Microsoft, Oracle or Adobe etc and especially any antivirus makers.

  • There are few people who are smarter than a compiler. And those who use "branchless coding" probably aren't.

  • FairEmail: I hated reading email on my phone, till I found it. I was so happy that I already paid for it 3 times (optional!) just to give something back to the dev.

Waze: it belongs to Google now, but I like it much better because it's like a social network for navigation and maps. You can also edit the maps by yourself. Another advantage is that it shows speed limits and warns you about police while driving.
