But that still doesn't affect Signal as a network directly.
Which is imho a important distinction, as else all my communications could be compromised as well

Not saying that this isn't a threat vector, but it's not like my communications are automatically compromised, like with a bug or hacked signal server infrastructure

Signal is a publicly available app that provides encrypted communications, but it can be hacked.

Maybe better to get some basic self defense training
It's not always possible to carry your gun and just shooting someone isn't the answer anyway.
Break an arm, destroy a knee, kick some balls.
That should do the trick as well and is much more reasonable in most situations

And imho also more satisfying
Especially as you learn some confidence, as you then carry your weapon all the time and can use the force necessary for each situation
