  • I'm no communist, but your argument is flawed.

Linus is not representative of the Linux community and I think the famous Stallman rant regarding GNU/Linux is actually relevant here.

The free software movement is certainly pretty left leaning, though I wouldn't call them communist.

  • They do and the German chancellor is also not as important as the American president.

Theoretically, the Chinese parliament is also the actual governing body, but with its size and sporadic meetings that's pretty questionable.

  • Of course it's political. Politics aren't just about things where there can be legitimate disagreement.

Acknowledging climate change is political. So is everything from basic public transport, better healthcare to if sexism and racism are even a thing.

It shouldn't be. We also shouldn't have a resurgence of actual fascists. But we do and it is.

  • Teaching children how to be gay, sure.

Hey, Children. If you like somebody and they like you back, don't worry about which gender you think you belong to.

People can love people no matter if they are the same gender or not.

  • Yeah, that's where the left-right concept kinda breaks down.

It feels wrong to say the USSR wasn't left when you consider the many left policies they had and of course their origin.

I also agree with your idea of what left-wing should mean. I guess there's no way to avoid complexity with topics like this.
