  • Almost Plausible is a podcast where three friends make up stories, usually in the form of a movie plot, where something unexpected takes a central or critical role in the story. For example, how would you make a movie about a pillow? Or a ceiling fan? Or a toilet brush? That’s exactly what we try to figure out on the show!

Each episode starts with a brief pitch session, where we take turns sharing the ideas we’ve come up with for each episode’s topic. After we’ve heard all the pitches, we pick one, develop it, and hopefully come up with a story that’s at least almost plausible.

Disclaimer: This is my own podcast.

  • I'd say don't type out anything you wouldn't want to send, not even as a joke. On multiple occasions I've seen people type a text or email as a joke, and then accidentally send it instead of erase it.

By that same token, don't send things you wouldn't want others to see (or perhaps, be aware of unintended audiences). How often do we hear about nudes being shared? In another example, I once worked at a company that had too many bosses, and one of them shit talked me to my boss in an email. They replied back and forth a bit, and then my boss had a question for me about the project they were now discussing, so he forwarded me the entire email chain. I saw exactly what the other boss said about me, and there was no denying he was the one who said it. I immediately and permanently lost all respect for him.

  • I'm sure I have a screwdriver around here somewhere...

  • The first computer I remember using was my dad's IBM PC-XT, but the first computer that was mine was an Apple IIe that my grandfather gave me when he upgraded his own.

I don't remember how old I was, but probably around 9 or 10. I loved that thing, and I used it for all sorts of stuff. I played games, I made cards and banners with Print Shop Pro, I wrote stories and stuff. That thing was great.

  • I saw a guy do this when I was a kid.

  • Spot Shot can work wonders, but definitely read the instructions. It's been awhile since I've had to use it, but I recall thinking its use is not intuitive (not complicated, just not what I would have assumed).

I also have a Little Green Machine from Bissell, which has been so fucking useful. I generally use that instead of Spot Shot, and on rare occasions, the two in tandem. Again, be sure to read the instructions and clean the machine out properly after every use so it doesn't get gross.

  • I'm curious to know why, can you explain or point to an article?

  • Look, I know I'll never be allowed in the gold card room, but if that's what it takes to get robust public transit in the U.S., I'm good with it.

  • Oh look, here’s a guy who lives his whole life as Peter Pan and has a website about it

Holy shit, I haven't thought about that guy in something like 20 years! I wonder what he's up to these days. I like to imagine he and the berries and cream guy are pals.

  • UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection would be great! I've been playing a ton of Dave the Diver, which is a fun game, but I'm definitely need a change of pace.

  • Please stop doing this. Food poisoning from rice can potentially kill you.

ETA: The recipe you suggested sounds crazy good, though.

  • I quite like popped sorghum.

  • Not all mangoes have stringy flesh. Most of the mangoes I see in U.S. supermarkets are the Tommy Atkins variety, which is pretty unremarkable. In the 1950s, the Florida Mango Forum described it as having, "unremarkable eating qualities and considerable fiber in the flesh."

I sometimes see Kent mangoes, which taste better and are way less fibrous. If you can find a Keitt mango, they taste great and also have low fiber.

  • Try microwaving it on high for several minutes (until it's basically too hot to handle) before stuffing the bird.

It also helps if you don't pack it in. It should get to 165°F to be considered safe.

  • I like them with a little miso. Or miso butter. Damn, now I'm super hungry.

  • Considering this is what my podcast is all about, it would be hard to pick just one.

  • This is my favorite chill game.
