TSMC opened a factory in Arizona, so it's really a big f u to the people of Taiwan while the owners of tsmc are good to go.

I get the bring jobs to the US bit, but the cost will be passed on to consumers and the whole market will shrink. There are existing chip fab facilities in the US, maybe efforts should focus on why they can't compete instead of reducing demand for electronics inside the US.

I for one think we need a register for each unsigned integer, why is zero so special? :P

Or if we can't get that, at least every power of 2 and power of 2 minus 1.

Anaconda Inc is terrible. I recommend mamba + conda forge but I don't package stuff.

Glad you're filing a complaint, and I hope others do as well. My experience with them as vendors of enterprise data science server software was quite disappointing.

I don't encrypt because it's too much effort to learn about it.

Id rather keep my filesystem unencrypted so that I can easily recover from problems and encrypt important files as needed, but let's be real I don't do that either.

There are a bunch of options to do this.

If you use the networking stack (tcp or http or zmq or something ) you can run the gui on a different machine.

Unix sockets are a good option for running on the same machine.

Have you considered having node serve the static web page? Then you can serve the data over http with the same server.

Only a few days, maybe 12 if I had to guess. Im running with memory overcommit disabled and building a rust project with vscode and Firefox open will hang the kernel eventually. I caved to the kernel's expectations and set up a swap partition but it still dies.

What do you mean? We've begun the greatest construction of sun obelisks in the history of humankind? There everywhere, people come knocking on your door wanting to mount them on your roof for free.

Maybe write up some instructions for volunteer operators to provide various components of an IP network. Some could provide user access points, some could provide long distance links, some can provide routing, and some can provide name resolution. No new tech is required, but it will be expensive.

All of this is already set up to work with low trust in the network itself on the Internet, so it's definitely possible. There may even be good options for leasing long distance data lines that are currently unused.

Definitely check out Helium and MeshTastic. Neither are high speed data network s but similar in spirit.
