I agree wholeheartedly and want to add that with Linux systems it's much easier to clean out the bloat and be left with a usable system. It's possible on Windows but might as well not be since the bloat is so deeply integrated into the OS and SDK.
In addition to the pavucontrol advice, I recommend firing up alsamixer to check the mute and volume of the detected cards and channels.

Maybe try diabling microcode updates on boot? you can use dis_ucode_ldr kernel parameter according to the debian wiki:https://wiki.debian.org/Microcode#Working%20around%20boot%20problems%20caused%20by%20microcode%20updatesi would think microcode is checked for corruption before loading, but thats just an assumption.
If apt wont remove it, try using dpkghttps://www.baeldung.com/linux/apt-uninstall-dpkg-deb-packageif it doesnt work you may get a better idea whats going on.
