100% to me it just seems like a different way to ensure that competition happens upon a standard. I would argue its promoting a truer ideal of free market but as u said bribing someone to stop ur competitor is cheaper than making a better or cheaper product.

You my friend are clearly a moron. We paid for the subs but in the proccess did not have to pay for the development progam the manufacture program the logistic systems etc etc. Its called scalles of efficency producing one nuclear sub costs almost as mich as producing 2 hence we give the USA the money to make a few for us at far below the cost for us to build 1. We are not the only people doing this and thus the price per unit drops for everyone its far far far more efficient. Assuming nothing happens to the US well thats the risk but australia cant support a nuclear sub program by owselves so we have to go to the market and the US is a better bet than buying from other producers hence we dropped france (sorry cheese eatibg surrender monkeys).

Im on the pixel 7 purly cos of size. Graphene has been great turning mic and camera on and off can get a little tediouse but u dont have to use that feature if u dont wanna bother. Accessing the same file from different apps can be a little anoying sometimes due to sandboxing but nothing too seriouse. Took me a while to set things up how i wanted custom launcher, keyboard, fdroid etc but im very happy now no issues at all, ive heard people saying some apps like bank apps etc dont work i have never encountered this issue google servuces conpat works perfecrly. Well except for android auto but a recent update suposidly fixed that i havnt tested yet. Its development seems very active u can get a rundown of updates as they come out here !grapheneos@lemmy.ml . Im never going back to a proprietery os without the security features graphene offers ever. U might wanna check out the alternatives tho ive heard good things about LineageOS as well. Only thing u might wanna watch out for with graphene is the dev/s have mad beef with practicaly everyone.

Been thinking about something simmillar. As long as i have a private key on my own machine with total control of my shit im happy. Seperating the identity from the server solves so many issues.
