Yes, to spread out their business. It's not a nice thing to do, it's logical and calculated move.

So I installed this way back in the day on my prod corporate VMs. I was still green, and any prod issues would shake me so much, it was too stressful.

I taught myself to relax when the locomotive pops up, take a few deep breaths and go on.

It was super effective. I learned to not get so flustered, and stopped messing commands due to adrenaline. I no longer install it anywhere, but it still puts a smile and a wave of nostalgia when I see or hear about it.

Such a small thing, yet it helped me grow so much.

You are right, but let me add that Gabe knows that being tied to Windows is not a good idea, as he worked there and understood that they would block Steam if they could.

Valve supporting 'their' alternative OS, away from Microsoft (and Apple) or any other direct competitor in gaming is the only way to survive.

It's not like they pour all that money into Linux from the goodness of their heart. They need their own OS just as much as the Linux desktop community needs some stable funding.

Given how Valve lets children gamble with skins, I'm not sure how moral that company really is.

I'm not that well versed, but I would expect modern designs be unable to be used as a weapon, at least easily. When someone brings heavy equipment (and I will file Fukushima under a 'very heavy forces'), they can do anything. Putting the blame on nuclear is again just fearmongering.

Thank you for providing me more info about the Germany at that time. Did that happen throughout, or just the west part? Because IIRC the east block was celebrating First May like it was no big deal.

I get that people may be scared, but again that's now how things work. Coal is 100 times more radioactive than nuclear plant, so building them to 100% put radioactive material around them is absolutely stupid, when the same people are scared of one nuclear plant blowing up 39 years ago.

Were there any precautions in Germany after Chernobyl? I'm from eastern Europe and there weren't any.

Nuclear disasters are not happening despite there being hundreds of plants in operation. It's all just FUD spread by the fossil lobby.

Again, there aren't those reactors in service. End of story.

Coal puts out more radioactivity into air, yet nobody mentions that. So fuck this 'founded' fear. It's not real.

Arguing about Chernobyl is about the dumbest thing to do.

It was very old reactor, no other like that is in Germany, therefore it's unfounded.

Nuclear plants are all over the world, with much better designs.

WHAT THE FUCK are we doing? Alpine has been used in Docker, and Docker is now run everywhere.

WHY are these necessary tools underfunded? They barely even need anything. Why do companies not support them?

Can we start giving at least 0.000001% of net profit to the basic tools used? Can we globally force companies to give the smallest pittance to the open-source projects they make trillions off of?
