  • Make sure to install plugins like ublock origin. Firefox still supports this and a few other plugins on mobile, like Bitwarden etc.

  • Firefox is great, so sounds like a win to me. :)

  • You have Firefox profiles too though.

But they are not as integrated as Chromes and requires a restart of the browser I think.

  • But this is funnier. :)

  • That's actually really interesting. What's the purpose of so many inactive accounts at once?

Seems to be enough to have a few of them, and not a million accounts since it clearly will rise suspicion... :)

Very good that you found them. Fascinating.

Maybe an attempt to try and make the fediverse look more active than it was back then, to get headlines about how it has explosive growth etc. It was June and everything really took off then.

  • Well we will see. There will be a lot of demand for websites that doesn't go along with this shit. So maybe we get a web where individuals again are contributing on their own sites while big tech goes the DRM way.

The same people who today run Lemmy instances are the kind of people that are also interested in seeing that kind of a web, and can help build it. We don't do it for money.

  • Nvidia is bad and also Ubuntu is using a very old kernel.

I think you should try installing Pop OS instead.

  • America has a lot, but not free media :)

  • A lot of us use Linux for gaming now. Supports almost all games. But for God's sake, pick a amd graphics card if you plan to do Linux gaming. Nvidia is buggy as hell.

  • Yeah but that can be removed at any time. It's a bit optimistic to think those safeguards would remain when they stand in the way of profit...

  • Maybe this thing will evolve into two webs. One where the majority using Chrome will be, mostly busy watching ads and reading the shitty sites Google has picked for them.

But another where browsers who don't support this can be. Stuff like Lemmy and forums and other things run by individuals with an interest and passion.

We would still need to use chrome for the official stuff like our bank's or office websites, but there would be another world out there for people who refuse to accept being subjected to this shit. Alternative websites would shoot up and became popular.

  • Beautiful!

  • Googles wet dream to make all web pages like this.

  • Try container tabs!

They have separate sessions so you can be logged in to the same site on multiple accounts. This is extreamly useful for stuff like being logged in to github using work account and company account or other sites where you just need many accounts. Aws is another good example.

There is also temporary containers that leave no trace at all.

  • I won't change. They tried to fight this very hard but lost this battle. They will continue to fight this for years. They are up against powerful forces.

  • Nothing is free. How would they make money as a company to pay employees and pay hosting bills?

All these big tech companies are free exactly because they are preditory on users.

Pay for good email like Fastmail or Proton.
