  • It has become pretty famous and made the word Enshittification pretty known in some circles. It's the perfect description of what we see around us now.

  • It's nice that they are trying to add new features and make it original in some way. But I will have to wait for Linux support, sadly.

  • I liked this one better. The repeating last sentence was enough to get it. :)

  • Yeah I know. Things really change....

  • I tried the v5 headphones but they were worse than v4, at least at sound isolation.

  • It's ideal for you since you don't want to discuss it, yes.

  • I've noticed that there are tons of people who tries to tell others what to talk about, even what words they should use. What's going on... :)

  • I think it's a bit silly to have megathreads just because some users can't scroll past posts that doesnt interest them.

I agree its not great with multiple threads but it's also not the end of the world imo. Users want to talk about these things. Let them.

It's not fun to post on megathreads because your comments get buried. At least it was like that on reddit.

  • I kind of just end up using Tokyonight, it's hard to find anything better.

  • Yup its easy to see the pattern everywhere now.

  • This is super common in enterprises. Make employees feel super valued, but on salary negotiation, there is no money in the budget. Lol.

  • I was thinking that too. It would be a lot easier for new users if they were already subscribed to some communities so they get a feed with posts and can get started, ask questions, add or remove communities etc.

Maybe not tie it to Lemmy explorer but at least let people have some starting point.

  • Sounds like they are becoming worried over the growth of these networks and wants to convince the large public that they should stay away.

It's pretty much standard tactics to paint a false picture of something, and they get away with it too. I bet people will now say "mastadon, isn't that where there is child porn? No thanks".

  • I agree. :) Haven't played a ubisoft game for ages....

  • I have a friend with similar mindset and he likes Mastadon a lot more. Because there he can research which people to follow and make sure they post quality stuff. Quality over quantity. But it takes time to know who to follow. Once you have though, it can be a goldmine.

  • A smart way of thinking about it for sure.

  • I don't like competition either. Working together is always the best, or alone.

  • It is irrational. Just because you believe that various forms of xenophobia (writ large) are “human nature” does not make them rational. Phobias are irrational (that is ‘without reason’) by definition, and attempting to redefine a phobia from a clinical diagnosis to a justification based on your perception that people are inherently prejudiced is itself irrational.

It's not a phobia so it's not irrational. I've tried to explain the reasons above but I don't think you agree, which is fine. According to your definition, everyone who feel uncomfortable around trans people are transphobic, which is absurd to me and I strongly disagree with that.

With that logic, I am also a racist if I prefer being around people from the same skin color and culture. Then almost everyone on the planet is a racist because they don't enjoy hanging out with other cultures (like I said above, people tend to group up and be friends with other similar people).
