  • I've posted this on lemmy once before, but assuming you've maxed your 401k or other retirement, my go to strategy has been to buy a few shares of VTI every paycheck. If there was anything left over, or I couldn't afford VTI, I'd buy SPYG. I've been doing this for a very long time and it has paid off well for me. I'm not rich enough to stop working, but if I lost my job for a while, I'd be fine.

Then on a personal level, join a local sport. In my area there are a bunch, indoor soccer, flag football, volleyball, rock climbing, etc.... This gets you cardio without having to force yourself to go to the gym.

  • This is basically exactly the answer. More nuance could be that even if you make lots of money, think doctors, lawyers etc but your debt level is super high, think student loans, or you just over extended your self, you're a wage slave.

If you live saved up enough money to live off of it in a meager way you might not be rich, but you aren't a wage slave

  • I've got a couple that roll around in my head, radiation therapy will be seen as barbaric at some point. Assuming we don't burn ourselves off this earth in the next few years I think we'll see some progress on this. Moderna is known for their COVID shot, however they have basically eliminated melanoma with a tailored injection. Last I looked at it, it was in it's mid stage or something and was almost 100% effective.
