  • The 512 LCD Deck is a stupidly good deal at 25% off... $330 USD is crazy cheap for a new Deck, and that's a solid amount of starting storage space before you even move to grab an SD card.

I own both in the household, and while I do enjoy some of the OLED Deck's improved features, the original is NOT a slouch... I wouldn't sleep on it! The display is MUCH better than it was at launch thanks to software fixes, and the screen can safely be overclocked from the base 60 Hz up to to 70 Hz with minimal effort, further reducing the gap between the models (OLED is 90 Hz) and allowing clean locking to 35 FPS, a great balance point for smoothness vs battery use.

Since I own both, I can tell you what you'd mainly be missing taking the LCD: basically you'd giving up battery length (OLED is about 25% better on battery life... but the whole issue is mute if you primarily play older games, or mostly play while plugged in), about a half inch of diagonal screen real estate, plus you're taking a somewhat less precise touch screen, and taking a slightly older Bluetooth adapter in the unit. In exchange for this, you get a new Deck for more than $200 less than the base OLED will cost.

Otherwise, these two are very similar, so it's a very good time to get a Deck.

  • Speaking on ads, they are definitely one of the leaders in this category.

I can honestly say that there have been maybe a half-dozen or so ads I've encountered in my entire life span that introduced a product into my awareness, that I later looked into and decided to purchase.

And for that microscopic amount of success for the advertisers, I have been exposed to tens of millions of ads over my life span (mid-40s now). All of those hammering on your mood and/or sanity, some worse than others, but every one a punch of annoyance.

  • Hand transplant. He lost Lefty back in 'Nam, and only right hands were available in the donor pool at the time.

  • Nothing for the Federal stuff, I guess.

He can't pardon the state felony convictions he has, though. That's the case that worries me in this regard.

  • It seems counter intuitive, but you want as little of this of this floating around as possible while he's in office. Act like nothing's pending throughout his term, then reopen this the minute he's out.

We don't need him having more motives to try to dictatorially stay in power after his term, and stuff like clearly pending trials and sentencings hanging over him the moment he leaves the WH could give him that extra incentive.

  • AI is improving in this regard. With the right set up, you're having conversations with a grammatically native speaker who isn't a real person, but who will talk as long as you want and gently correct and teach you without judgment as you go. May be worth checking out.

  • Could be accurate, people turn into or are turned into animals all the time in the HP universe.

  • I also love how the instruction words are still gibberish, but they are close enough that it's like you're receiving these instructions from the Swedish Chef.

  • Looks like a foospinball machine.

  • Like others, I'd rather see a Steam Deck Controller than an actual Steam Controller 2 that's heavily based on the original. But they'd probably sell a bazillion of either.

  • I'm not sure why this is a big deal. We've all had Cthulhu as our Fed Ex delivery guy at one time or another.

  • Imagine acting like everyone in England has the same accent. The only thing more ridiculous would be saying that everyone in the US does.

  • Something else to consider is that it's a wonderful social window if you have friends that you don't get to hang out with very often due to geography and life.

I have a couple of good friends who are too far away after I moved to another area. We play games online and have a nice social hangout for a few hours each Saturday. Voice chatting works great.

It's fantastic to be able to regularly spend time with them.

  • AI totally understood the assignment, I see nothing to critique here.
