  • they could just smash one of my many windows

Note that smashing windows is a very shitty way to break into a house: it makes a lot of noise, very quickly raises suspicion of people passing by, getting into a house like that is harder, slower, you risk cutting yourself with random pieces of glass etc.

A person breaking into a house like that either knows precisely what they want and is prepared to act fast, or is an idiot who wants to go to jail

  • QubesOS is not fit for daily use by most people and you can also decorp your system without moving to it. Whilst the OS is a great one for its security, it's for people with a specific threat model, so if you tell everyone to move to it, then you're straight up giving really bad advice.

  • Fallout. I'm yet to play the second part and people say it's even better. You just don't see such game design anymore, I can't say modern or old one is better, both have their advantages but playing Fallout was totally worth it

  • Ironically, you are asking for this in the wrong community as this one is not intended for Lemmy support. Anyway, you might find this tool helpful. The search functionality there actually searches through many instances, whilst your instance is likely to stumble into an unfetched community

  • I absolutely love the KDE approach and I always enable telemetry for FOSS apps if I can see what exactly is being sent. Hell, I wouldn't even mind some opt out telemetry if I could see what data the app sends back "home". That's, obviously, if the data sent doesn't violate my privacy significantly
