For there to be a flight risk, there would have to be a crime being committed. She's already done the time for her past conviction, so there's nothing to flee, and thus no flight risk.
Her leaving the country and coming back is not a crime when she has a valid visa allowing her to do that.
Until those willing to stand up and fight build up into a critical mass, every individual is at risk of being disappeared by the thought police. So until then, there is a good reason to be scared.
If the games you're looking to play are competitive multiplayer games, those usually actively fight Linux users. Games like Valorant, Apex Legends, and Fortnite are all broken on Linux due to their invasive anti-cheat software. There are exceptions to this, of course. The devs of Marvel Rivals, for example, have said that they don't have a problem with players on Linux.
For.anything else, odds are it will work fine. You can always check protondb.com to see if, and how well, your games work under Linux.
I've been Linux-only for a few years now, and I haven't had issues playing anything yet, besides maybe some minor tweaks.
Mods can be more complicated, but I don't have much experience with that. I do believe Nexus Mods are working of a project to simplify game mods under Linux, so hopefully that works out well.
Others have already answered your questions, so I just wanted to add that the Linux community is based on sharing and cooperation, mainly though Open Source principles, but also in most other ways. From personal experience, I would say that the community is pretty much always willing to help out when you experience issues. There's always someone willing to share some insight.
SnapMap is a built-in map editor. It lets you build simple maps made of prefab rooms. It's clunky and very limited. Really nothing particularly interesting considering the history of OG Doom's decades-old fan-made map scene.
You stick it into the middle of the thickest part of your steak while it's cooking so you know the internal temperature. Then you know when to take it off the heat to let it rest. That way you can get the exact doneness you want every time.
That's not a fix though, it's a hoop to jump through every time. Regardless of OS, it's incorrect behavior.
