  • Netflix made a huge dent in piracy in their early streaming days. It was a convenient, and cheap, service with a ton of good content. Then everyone else started pulling their content from Netflix and built their own streaming services, and all of a sudden watching TV and movies got expensive again.

Then Netflix started enshittifying its service by limiting streaming resolution, cracking down on account sharing, putting ads in.

A lot of pirates wouldn't be pirates if Netflix was as good as it used to be.

  • You can definitely reliably get sub-millimeter precision with a consumer-grade 3d printer. Even with a 0.4mm nozzle, once dialed-in, you can make print-in-place models with a clearance of 0.1mm, and the default layer thickness is typically 0.2mm.

While layer adhesion is usually the weakness of 3d-printed parts, some materials like PETG or TPU have very good adhesion, to the point that printing on a glass plate can damage the glass when removing the model.

  • I was led to believe that shipping crates open up easily with one quick pry of a crowbar. In reality, those things are built with so many nails and screws that it takes more work to tear it down than to build it.

  • I have Nobara running on an old Lenovo Flex 15 with an 8th gen i5. Everything on it worked right out of the box including the multi-touch screen, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work on any other distro. I can't tell the difference in responsiveness between Windows and Linux on it.

  • I think it's just been made to look like a tree. A tree having been sawn down and debarked would definitely not survive being turned into a utility pole.

Notice it has two different types of branches on it. Looks like leaves and needles.

  • You don't need a multi-paragraph explanation. Femicide is the murder of a woman by a man, and domestic abuse is violence against a domestic partner or family member.

One situation can apply to both terms, but neither implies the other.

  • Typically, white meat is actually more expensive because it's in higher demand. There's more breast meat on a typical chicken than there is leg meat, mainly because we've bred chickens to have much larger breast than they did historically, because most people prefer white meat.

Now I'm not arguing that dark meat is better or worse, both parts serve different purposes in a dish. Texture is an important factor to consider, and chicken legs are full of connective tissues and cartilage that can be quite off-putting to many people. For a broth, or just eating from a roast chicken, it makes sense to go with the legs, but for something where texture or the size of the pieces matters more, the breast is usually preferable. You don't make Chicken Kiev with legs, for example.

  • I'm kind of shocked that it's only been 18 years since the last 486 chip was made. It was launched in 1989 and discontinued in 2008, while the original Pentium was launched in 1993 and discontinued in 1999. Hell, the Pentium 4 was discontinued in 2007.
