  • Fruit trees. There's a ton of them.

  • It's really just a bad overused joke.

You've said that, not us =P

  • Also: CSS Also: Java applets Also: Flash

The internet has basically gone moldy overnight.

  • Newpipe Sponsorblock is an easy recommendation for everyone on Android. Two minutes of installing/configuring and it's just plain good: downloading, background playback, in-video ad skipping etc.

I, myself, convert YouTube channels into podcast feeds and play YouTube videos among my regular podcasts using AntennaPod, but that requires me to host a service.

  • ... specify your instance URL (https://lemmy.world)?

  • And I want world peace and a unicorn.

I mean, who wins, digital fingerprinting or r/faxofafax?

  • Or just use a proper third-party client. You wouldn't use Reddit with a browser, or God forbid, the official app? It's the same with YouTube. Or everything, really.

  • And in GJS? All other runtimes?

In, say, C, such basic stuff is right there, in the standard.

Javascript isn't even standardized, some ECMAScript is, so I don't even know what we're talking about.

  • You've spelled "Jabber" wrong.

  • If you run MacOS, I don't have to.

And yeah, sound like at least one of us doesn't get privacy.

  • I think you're misunderstanding what "everything" means (it was "everything needed for a hello world") and trying to divert the discussion to whatever Web has devolved into, which is an abomination that's definitely unsuited for learning the ropes of software development.

  • The right to cross borders alone would require about a hundred revolutions. Which is a shame, because voting with our feet is a phenomenally good way of putting people in control of countries.

  • Let me suggest a simple exercise for you.

    1. Print "Hello world!" to stdout in Javascript.
    2. Show me the standard that guarantees that everything you've used exists and works as intended.

    I'll wait.

  • One doesn't "get privacy", privacy can't be bolted on. One starts with full privacy and then begins losing it to bad decisions, like choosing an inauditable OS that phones home and everything.

  • Since Thinklight is no longer a thing, how else am I supposed to read my credit card info off the card?
