  • It was a QX56 before they renamed it, but like that other guy said, it’s pretty much all of them as the car manufacturers are incentivized to give you the absolute best case usage scenarios for everything, and then slap that on a sticker as if it’s real world data.

  • Gas cars do this too.

Years ago I bought an Infiniti truck that advertised 18 mpg. After owning and driving it I only got 9 mpg.

I wish the government would crack down harder on this sort of blatant misleading “advertising” so gas or electric, we’d have a better idea of what we’re purchasing.

  • I mean I’m very pro-labor my guy but what exactly is it we’re defending here? They aren’t exactly busting ass at McDonald’s like you and I. They make almost 60k a year to literally stand around and do nothing while playing pretend.

A typical yearly background acting salary is around $58,588 for full-time work.

    https://www.cityheadshots.com/blog/background-acting#:~:text=Most%20background%20actors%20earn%20between,%2458%2C588%20for%20full%2Dtime%20work.

I don’t really blame the studios in this scenario since the technology has progressed enough to replace them here quite well, nor do I blame the background actors for being upset their golden goose is wanting to fly off.

  • I think the idea is more about how people in the background aren’t really active members of the shows’ action, so they are very expensive decorations to the studios.

And I guess to play devils advocate, I sorta get it. It costs a lot of money and people-hours to get crowds of people just standing around pretending to be crowds of people. You have to do a lot to keep them fed and happy for very little payoff or return on investment.

If you could somehow get the same effect of a crowd without actually having to just literally pay people to stand around and do nothing in the background, you’d either be able to save a lot of money/time or use that saved money to improve other areas of the production.

  • Same thing with my Model S.

Used the app to submit a ticket, was kept updated on chat with the tech from the very beginning to the end of the whole thing.

Tech comes out to my house and does a computer upgrade and courtesy filter change right in my garage while I sipped coffee in sweats.

The whole thing was covered under warranty and free. People like to hate on Tesla just by association, but I’m pretty old now by internet standards, I’ve had a lot of cars and dealt with a lot of manufacturers, and Tesla was hands down the best car repair experience of my life.

Even the luxury brands I owned which would offer valet and massages in the lobby still suck compared to comfortably sipping coffee in my own house.

  • At one point he mentions a well known actress making 1/7th the salary of her male co-star, and that she was making just under 4K a week.

So there’s clearly money to go around if the dudes can get 28k a week, and the “shows or movies are losing millions” argument the accountants and tax dealers use makes no sense
