They're being downvoted, because almost anytime anyone mentions cycling on the internet, there's will be some braindead comments claiming cyclists always break this rule or that, and it really isn't helpful to anyone.
With an ebike they can power it themselves with the solar panels, whereas with a car they are continually reliant on the outside world for fuel. It's pretty minor and I would think they would need spare parts sometime, but that's the difference that I can see.
People shouldn't have to rely on them. Cities shouldn't be designed in a way that forces everyone to have to drive to get anywhere and do the things that people need to do.
There already is a highway on the other side of the lake. It's only 10km extra if you're doing Zurich -> Lugano for example. There's no need for another road tunnel.
It's not a highway and it shouldn't be treated like one. There's a highway on the other side of the lake for those just passing through. This should be treated as a local road for access to places along it or at either end, for which a much lower speed limit would be fine and would make it much safer.
Although I do see an issue with routing: Getting from Albert street to Selfridges by car takes twice as long as walking. But that is not the bus gate, but die to many roads being closed for HS2 construction.
This is intentional, as per the city centre segment scheme. This area should really only be driven in to access somewhere within the zone, not to pass through.
This would be more relevant in !lemmy@lemmy.ml, although there's already a post about it there.
