  • We all knew this will happen then you can take preventive measures or not. I always think preventing os a better option with lower cost.

Now, people have to act otherwise they are supporting these views. The fediverse is a safe space for many minorities. You may not be part of one of them but the fediverse doesn't work like other social media. You don't have one parent company to take in account. You are accountable or at least the instance you're on. This is due to federation.

People have to change their mind on this too. We have to change this rule. We have to move more like one. This can be called unionizing. People and instance have to unionize to keep the leadership in social media. This will be a non individual response to the issues. We look collectively at them with tolerance as a common contract.

This is the opposite of how these companies like meta work. They want to put the responsibility on the individual as always. They grow their capital from this by exploiting the cognitive free work of the user. It's completely individual and the algorithms help to push this logic at the extrem. By thinking, the fediverse should not have a common response, people are playing the game of these companies.

This is why we have to change and unionize, to have a peaceful place where we put the common first and reject the individualism. We can show people that a better place with different rules than what we see for now 40 years is possible online.

  • Herren means "men". "WC" means toilets, the place, in this case. I get the pun but it's not the best one.

The water is accessible on the front by the way.

  • This is actually misinformation and misleading. The sign says

    like on the picture.

My link was for the illustration.

  • Some others:

    • Half of the people with swiss citizenship have a foreign background at some level.
    • The majority of immigration went from permanent to temporary. People come for a small amount of time.
    • Despite being one of the most neoliberal country, people of the city of Berne voted to allocate money to the self-managed cultural center. This can be explained by the city-countryside political divide.
    • Switzerland doesn't have direct democracy but a semi-direct democracy.
    • Appenzell Innerrhoden and Glarus still have a Landsgemeinde where people vote cantonal level legislations using show of hands vote.
    • Corruption at the local level is high.
    • There are more unwritten rules than laws.
    • People keep their friends during the entire life. As a side effect, people can be seen as unfriendly. It can take up to 10 years to make a local friends.
    • You can reach 95% of the country by public transportation.
    • The Habsburg dinasty originated from the small town of Habsburg in the Canton of Aargau.
    • People are racists on a town to town basis.
    • One of the official language isn't used in the daily life despite having the larger speaker base. People use dialect.
    • These dialect can vary a lot between regions or even towns.
    • People will be angry and rant if the train run 5 minutes late.
    • The biodiversity is actually bad.
    • You can legally urinate on a UNESCO monument.

    Switzerland

  • It's understandable. Back in the old old days, these 😱 were often called emoticons. The reason was that the chat software that people used to automatically replaced ;-) by 😉. The menu was the same and the name of this menu was emoticon.

One of the most famous example of this is MSN Messenger.

People keep the habit to call them emoticons.

  • People should note that cocaine is the widest illegal drug used in Switzerland. Cannabis is second.

  • Technosolutionism will always be a failure. It failed in the past, it fails and will fail even for the climate change.

  • Seeing the last law on immigration :/

  • It's not just ideological. Many people and instances on the fediverse have minorities using them. These minorities rely on it to share and discuss in safe spaces. The federation of threads is a threat to these safe space.

  • So, I choose the right instances at the beginning.

  • It's nothing new in a neoliberal world. It's up to the individual and the capital want to grow at any cost.

  • Thanks for the update!

  • You're giving to many credits to the enlightened centrist. They won't run away.

  • Doubling means rising the price and not shutting down or giving less to some and more to others. The new price may be too expensive for the customer. In this case, the service or the business model is the issue.

An other regulation may be to pay egally all artists per listen with this point regulated as well.

Spotify didn't turn a profit yet. I would be pessimistic on the business model knowing the Majors take the majority of the 70%. Spotify is de facto a monopoly and so the Majors. With a fair price, the issue is to see the Majors quit the service and launch their own service. Spotify would be useless with only the indep (this is sad). They are protecting their money and the Majors. They don't care about the smaller artists.

  • Once you're used to, Mastodon is one of the best social media. People should remember, they are the algorithm.
