  • I see a lot of the nay sayers as a vocal minority. They yell the loudest, but only because the media gives them a platform to generate clicks. Just like how Republicans believe everyone in the nation, who doesn't worship satan, is pro-birth. Kansas, a deep red rural state proved otherwise with a vote to add abortion rights into their constitution a couple years ago, something their conservative supreme court just upheld.

Honestly, the recent ruling on the Kansas ballot initiative, which quite frankly surprised me to begin with, shows that in some places judges still do their job even when their personal beliefs may differ from the law they are entrusted with interpreting. Kansas voters, you showed us the way and stood out against the backdrop of "conservative status quo." Kansas showed, in the last two years, that when given a chance, even deep red states see the writing on the wall.

I have a feeling the outcome of this election is going to be a "silent storm" event and wake-up call to the GOP that they are out of touch with what the people really want. They've drank the loud-mouth's Kool-aid for far too long and won't believe it when it happens.

Think of it like the silent majority (maybe 80% of nationwide voters) is the massive tornado that took out the drive-in theater in the movie, Twister. In the movie, no one saw it until a random lightning strike shed light on the sheer girth of the monster bearing down on them. The GOP is the drive-in. The night of the election will be their lightning flash. We, the voters, will be the tornado.

  • Probably Gears of War, now that I think about it. That whole world just never interested me.

  • They aren't the same country, though. Things like that are likely more common in the UK than in the US. It's hard enough to vote here, yet alone if they pull the ol' switcheroo on the candidate in just a month.

  • Warhammer series as well as the Gears of War franchise. I like other strategy and 3rd-person shooters with cover mechanics. I just couldn't get into this world or the characters/groups.

  • It doesn't help that the same billionaires have spent decades dumbing down education and making higher education prohibitively expensive. All while cramming every single wedge issues under the sun into the national narrative to further entrench this tribal mentality. I know all of what you say is true, but it seems all but impossible to combat at this point.

It's so hard to have any motivation to carry on in this world given a portion of it is fine with all manner of atrocities so long as "their guy" is "winning." Why try to make anything better -- be it more just, equal, enjoyable for all -- when a good portion of the country (possibly the world) is so hell-bent on making it worse because they dislike a small subset of some insignificant problem?

Yesterday was the 4th. I just don't know why anyone celebrated at all. What's there to celebrate at this point when some will sell out their future, and the future of their own, for a "red hat?"

  • Only one party will ever feel justified to use it.

  • I love the Alt-Right Playbook series. It's so well done, but definitely not something I'd expect any Republican voter to understand, yet alone watch.

  • Didn't you hear? The president of the United States, who takes that same oath, exact same that any other military service member and elected official takes, is not actually bound by that oath, and can do whatever crimes they want so long as it's a Republican president and the shriveled sack of justice, the SCrOTUS, says it's official duties of the office!

What a time to be alive...

  • Yeah, I can think of an oranger, worster candidate...

  • I, for one, welcome our new unelected , lifetime-appointed overlords.

  • Gotta agree with others that mentioned The Outer Wilds. I haven't stopped thinking about that game in some capacity since I played it and the second (part? Game? DLC?) about 6 months ago. I never looked up anything before or during play, but loved reading all about it after finishing them.

It bears repeating...Do not read/watch anything about this game online. The best way to experience it is through discovery and I wish I could wipe the experience from my memory just to experience it again!

    Other notable mentions are...

    • Dead Space for it's integrated menus and systems that never take you out of the game.
    • Prey (the Indigenous People one) for the unique story.
    • Amnesia: The Dark Descent for the story, voice acting, and fear.

There are other games to mention, but my kid just came in and broke my train of thought.

  • Especially when you could hold a vote, letting the people decide the method. One option: yeet the person from the trebuchet. The second: yeet something at them from a trebuchet!

    Bring outchyo dead vote!!

  • No, I have not seen it. I've heard good things about it, though.

  • CIA are barred from enacting operations on US soil. It would have to be DOD or FBI unless they were abroad.

  • NCIX Tech Tips: Special Victims Unit

  • And if a company makes a negligent decision, which kills a million people over time, why is no one being put on death row? They can and do have it both ways, but I can still wish for a just world where if companies are people, they can be put to death for mass casualties caused by their decisions.

  • But wouldn't that include almost everyone but native people?
