  • This is why it’s a proposal, and why I filed it more than 6 months earlier than strictly required.

But just to clarify - we will need to drop support for 32-bit x86 at some point. It’s dead, and more and more software just doesn’t support being built and / or run in 32-bit environments at all.

Fedora Linux devs discuss dropping 32-bit packages - potentially bad news for Steam gamers

  • I’m not sure it’s a Wine/Proton thing, it’s quite likely to be suboptimal at some things because it’s reverse engineered (not to diminish technical marvel that it is and decades of effort). Regular desktop Windows has just way too much overhead coming from everywhere.

As a side note, back in the day when Nvidia released drivers for FreeBSD using Linux binary compatibility layer was even faster than Linux for gaming.

  • I’m against all gambling, especially targeting kids. So yeah, we can get rid of gumball machines. Bad attempt at whataboutism because I’m no hypocrite.

  • Selling cosmetics via loot boxes is gambling. They market their video games to children (all rated 13+). Way to twist what I’ve said lol. Goodbye, I’m blocking all Valve shills for sanity lately.

  • For me that comes up to a couple hundred euros, definitely not seeing where that goes.

Someone said here that Valve doesn’t chase profit at all cost because they’re a private company. We’re talking about pioneers of enshittification though, look what they’ve done to CS, Team Fortress 2 or Dota 2. They turned both into casinos for children, breaking cohesion and balance, just to chase the profits. Do you think those people run Steam ethically or with your interest in mind? Other companies would be crucified for anything similar but Valve gets away somehow.

  • Are you saying that if there was another store that you could move all your games to, with 10% cut, 10% discount for you and 10% discount for the developer you wouldn’t use it because Steam is so good? Take a look at your games library and imagine 20% of what you paid not going to Valve. Do they really provide good value for that money?

  • Why would manga piracy ever get hard, unless they stopped printing it on paper?

Sony faces class action over expensive digital game and DLC prices — ‘Sony tax’ means digital games cost ‘an average of 47% more’ than those on disc, group alleges

  • I guess there are issues with third party RSS feed I’m using, thanks for heads-up.

  • It continues to amaze me how Valve fanboys are the only group here that is completely incapable of critique of their platform of choice, will defend it by trying to convince others that a commercial entity can be benevolent and it happens to be this one.

  • I am surprised that steam is even lacking on this.

This is an „underdog” feature - if you own the market like Steam does it could only ever harm sales on their platform. Some people don’t seem to be bothered by the grip Valve has on the market however. Not like Microsoft wouldn’t do that either if they were in the same position because both are ultimately out there to make as much money as possible.

  • I wonder what is the purpose of decreasing amount of tiles with recently played tiles if they stay the same size.

  • Also gave up on ToTK on Switch 1. There’s so much fighting and fiddling in UI at the same time that it was just unbearable with 30 FPS.

76 shrines in, Master Sword obtained, Lurelein liberated, Korok Forest restored, still yet to start any main quests.

  • Steam has about 90% market share. That’s a monopoly even if niche competition exists.

  • I’ll just block you, ok? You’re littering my notifications. I’ll feel you channeling impotence through downvotes which will continue to give me chuckles.

  • I would take a shitty store with 10% cut if it had all the games Steam does and if I could take my games with me. I don’t care for what Steam provides but I have no choice.

  • I’m glad big game publishers managed to bring it down to 20%, they need all the money they can get after all. Any monopoly, unless it’s a state monopoly in charge of a limited resource, is a bad time for consumers because there is no competition.

  • Your point being? You need to use words, not vague accusations.

  • Ok, I’m not entertaining sealions.
