  • Yet another sign of Russian economy booming!

Since Putin and the trolls here on Lemmy claim that the Russian economy is booming, this must mean that Russian chip manufacturing sucked even more before Russia started using torture, rape and mass murder to try to invade Ukraine.

Note the "try"... Because, damn do they suck at invading other countries too....

  • That's the thing.

Developing drugs, from a theoritical cure for something to an actual approved drug, normally takes years and a lot of drugs gets scrapped during this process. You don't just have to prove that the drug is not causing more harm, your also have to prove how effective it is. There a lot of full time employee people involved in everything from developing the actual chemical to executing clinical tests.

I'm not in any way defending the way "big pharma" acts today, but all of this is more complicated than a guy suddenly saying "I'm going to create a drug that cures cancer" and then just does it in 2 years.

So out of the 10 drugs you pour a couple of millions into the development of, just 1 or 2 might make it through and get approved. If you're lucky. So even if it's just costs $5 manufacture that specific drug, the company still have to cover the losses from the other 8-9 that never made it.

Once again, I'm not defending all pharmaceutical companies. I'm just saying that the manufacturing cost of a drug that is approved is far from the actual cost.

  • Why would you believe that the sanctions against Russia would in any way include North Korea?

Funny thing, the sanctions against Russia doesn't include North Korea and the sanctions against North Korea never included Russia.

    Happy to help you learn.

  • So now we have proof that both the sanctions against North Korea and Russia work.

Before the sanctions against Russia there was very little interest from Russia in selling oil to North Korea. Suddenly Russia is all for trading with North Korea even though the Russian economy is booming (at least according to Putin and his friends).

If things were all a-okey in Russia, why would they even bother buying artillery ammunition from North Korea one might wonder.

  • Yup. The short and simplified reason is that consumers ask for price and appearance rather than flavor and nutrition.

The tomatoes you buy in stores during winter (when tomatoes normally don't grow) are often speed-grown in greenhouses heated by fossil fuel.

If you ever grow your own tomatoes you'll understand what a tomato "should" taste like.

  • So Israel just have to do as Russia does when India and China are helping them to distribute Russian oil.

A company not located in Israeli West Bank purchases products produced by settlers in the Israeli West Bank and rebrands them as not produced in West Bank.

A 12 year old could figure this one out.
