  • To be fair, the goal is the same.

    1. Not everyone needs the sheer CPU, power, and costs of a 40 GB/s connection.
    2. Higher wattage chargers cost more
    3. Not everyone needs a USB port that does video out (even if it should be standard now that virtually every new GPU should be compatible)
    4. Even if the CPU and GPU support a feature, the OEM can use a cheaper controller
    5. The controller firmware can lack support for a feature or be buggy

    The USB forum can only solve points 4 and 5 without raising costs on the cheapest hardware.

  • I believe you in saying it's possible if your cat isn't a picky eater. However, what do most pet cats eat per day, 100 to 200 calories a day? Pet food is usually made with the cuts that didn't make it into people food. I understand why people choose to be vegans (I see this choice almost like a religious choice). Making a few cats vegan doesn't really help the "vegan cause." Plus, there's no point in forcing animals in making ethical choices.

  • Your phone could have been switching power profiles incorrectly due to your phone rapidly switching between charging and not charging (and perhaps with a low power state depending on battery level).

    @ripcord@lemmy.world Just my guess.

  • Scammers simply know how to scam. A common one is the scammer visiting a house (pretending to buy) with a newer lock that gives one time codes and leaving a different door unlocked. Then the scammer "rents" out the house (even though it's only for sale) and tricks people out of a deposit and first month's rent.

  • Kitty is looking at a physical representation of the hierarchy and hasn't reliazed how far along the bottom it is...

    While what I wrote above may be pusedo-science (I'm not a fat scientist), there's no denying how adorable this is.
