  • What was Elon Musk’s strategy for Twitter? - NBC News

The three texts were sent on April 4, 2022. In the nearly 18 months since then, many of the decisions Musk made after he bought Twitter appear to have closely followed that road map, up to and including his ongoing attacks against the Anti-Defamation League, a nonprofit organization founded by Jewish Americans to counter discrimination.

The text messages described a series of actions Musk should take after he gained full control of the social media platform: “Step 1: Blame the platform for its users; Step 2: Coordinated pressure campaign; Step 3: Exodus of the Bluechecks; Step 4: Deplatforming.”

The messages from the unknown sender were revealed in a court filing last year as evidence in a lawsuit Twitter brought against Musk after he tried to back out of buying it. The redacted documents were unearthed by The Chancery Daily, an independent legal publication covering proceedings before the Delaware Court of Chancery.

The wording of the texts matches the subtitles of the article, “The Battle of the Century: Here’s What Happens if Elon Musk Buys Twitter,” which had been published three days earlier on the right-wing website revolver.news.

He's following a stupid right wing plan to screw it up. It's all on purpose.

  • “A thing about campaigns is sometimes you just do things for the lolz,” Rob Flaherty, a deputy Biden campaign manager, wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, of the decision to join Truth Social.

    This guy knows what's up.

  • Unverified reports of ‘40 babies beheaded’ in Israel-Hamas war inflame social media - NBC News

Marc Owen Jones, an associate professor of Middle East studies at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar who studies misinformation, told NBC News that he found that the source of the “40 babies beheaded” allegations largely stemmed from a viral Israeli news broadcast clip that did not specifically refer to the allegation.

Nicole Zedeck, a correspondent for the privately owned Israeli news outlet i24NEWS, said in the video that Israeli soldiers told her they’d found “babies, their heads cut off.” The video has been viewed more than 11 million times on X, according to its view counter. In another tweet, Zedeck wrote that soldiers told her they believe “40 babies/children were killed.”

“Somehow those two bits of information were connected, the story became ‘40 babies were beheaded,’ and in the British press today, about six or seven newspapers had it on their front pages,” Jones said.

An IDF spokesperson, Doron Spielman, told NBC News on Tuesday that he could not confirm i24NEWS’s report.

  • Why do I have a memory of him doing this early on in his presidency? Like, I hazily remember a call to a reporter threatening war with North Korea and then the Pentagon saying 'We don't know who called, they don't represent us, it's all bullshit.' Did I dream that up or did it get lost in all the stuff he got into over 4 years?

  • I bet he and his family will lose so much as to "only" millionaires and be forced to move to Florida so they can continue their shady business practices. But, it may be a bit harder for them to deal with big banks and such since since now they're definitely known to lie about nearly everything. Thinking about it, Deutsch Bank probably won't care and they'll be able to continue the grift with them. Who knows, maybe we'll see Jared or Ivanka or Don Jr try their hand at politics. Imagine: Jarevanka 2024, the first husband and wife team to run for the office of the president. That would be nuts but I could see them doing it.

  • 14th Amendment, Section 3

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

  • Hey! That's just about what I do! I make it a little lighter with 40g of coffee and 20oz (591g) of water.

I use a little water to warm up the press, empty it, drop the coffee in, pour maybe 100g of water to get it going and stir then wait a minute, add the rest of the water and brew for 5 minutes, press and enjoy. It comes out just right for my taste and preference for light and medium roast Central American beans.

  • I thought it looked familiar! Isn't that a church or something?

    Quickly googled:

The "I-4 Eyesore" is the nickname for the Majesty Building, an 18-story building in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The building has been under construction since 2001 and is still uncompleted. The building's proximity to Interstate 4 and its towering appearance led to the nickname. The building was built by a Christian broadcasting company and was designed to serve the business and ministry needs of Central Florida.

  • I have a similar lifestyle thanks to work and Netflix did exactly what will make you cancel. Whatever you do, don't set it up on your home smart TV because that's the thing that screwed up my account. Suddenly, I had to create new accounts for every random hotel I was living in for months at a time or go home every 30 days to reconnect to my home WiFi. I cancelled as soon as the account I paid for, that I didn't share outside my household suddenly stopped working. As an aside, I wonder how this effects other traveling people: truckers, military families, traveling nurses, or air crew.

  • This is exactly the way to do it. Well, it's exactly the way I do it. Yeah I have to wait a little bit but I'd rather have the full experience available, and a discount is a nice bonus, when I start a game than buy it piecemeal.

  • I was already amazed by the vaccines' development but this really put into perspective just how fortunate we were and how Herculean the effort was to do it. It truly is awing what can be accomplished when the tools and our collective will are combined for a singular purpose.

  • That's my experience, I framed houses for a few years after college and the architects thought they were gifts from God. Engineers were mostly cool, though. Most of them would understand "Your design is dumb and here's why. We're gonna have to change it" and they'd usually learn from it.

My best day on a job site was watching the architect wearing zero safety gear walk right into a temporary support for a wall. It was fantastic.

  • That's how I ingested it. I did it on work related cross country drives at 1.3x speed. It was... underwhelming and made me ask "What the hell is this?" and "She can't seriously see the world like this, right?" many, many times.
