  • Normal packaging systems don't get stuck nor break because you installed more software and its hilarious that you are somehow removing bloat by using a packaging system that calls for you to download the same deps over and over again.

  • those "hundreds of deps" are part of your flatpak and you will probably be downloading just as much fortunately fast internet is relatively cheap as is storage space and you probably won't notice if it takes 15 seconds more.

  • It is accurate that the first few flatpaks will use proportionally more storage as you will need more basic resources but you will will always be using substantially more storage than traditional apps. That said storage is cheap and the correct answer is to buy more instead of choosing tech based on storage requirements.

  • We are helping people enduring unimaginable hardship in a war zone where their children are being stolen and their people slaughtered. Our financials are so structured that money already committed won't be withheld even if the Republicans have a tantrum and shut the government down.

The defect and the outrage is that Republicans are allowed to take away first responders pay HERE not that it isn't also taken away there. This is classic "they aren't hurting the right people thinking. Fuck you newsweek.

  • Nobody is stopping trucks on the interstate. You could easily have one human minder escort 12-15 trucks outbound truck and a minder escort inbound trucks and spend most of the time on the interstate. Instead of a dozen drivers x 3 days you could use 1-4 hours of human labor total.

  • Also of note 76% of women consider being a MAGA republican a red flag and somehow one percent actually considers the person reading a red flag. Also being conservative is about as unpopular as being a communist.

  • Are we redefining moving all freight to collection points near endpoints with all vans all the time and moving 51% the last 3 miles as handling 51% of freight with bikes? Even so call me when you've actually done it some places

  • It looks like they believe they can replace 10% of Vans with bikes if they use Vans or trucks to move stuff to local pickup points and can thereby replace 10% of their vans with bikes in very dense urban core. This is interesting but underwhelming.

  • Outside of dense urban core there just isn't enough packages per mile to make this even slightly sane. Outside of temperate areas this would be awful when the weather is very cold or very hot. In all areas you would have to secure the packages against trivial theft and rain further adding to the weight and decreasing maximum cargo area.

Even in the fraction of places where this would be practicable differences in speed and cargo capacity means you would need more drivers to achieve the same results. It makes 100x more sense to to push ebikes as an alternative to commuters.

  • Half the population has less than 1000 bucks in savings and doesn't have a degree like an MD that would bump them to the top of the list as far as citizenship elsewhere. How do you propose people make this happen? The people who are most disadvantaged are those who would have the hardest time doing so.
